STRAIT OF GIBRALTAR.—SPAIN.
TARIFA.—ALTERATION IN LIGHT.—Position: Lat. 35° 59¾′ N., long. 5° 36¾′ W. Abridged description: Lt. gp. occ. (3), W.R. ev. 20 secs. Alteration: The fixed and occulting light has been replaced by a group occulting white light with red sector, giving a group of three occultations every twenty seconds—thus, light 10·7 secs., eclipse 1½ secs.; light 2·4 secs., eclipse 1¼ secs.; light 2·4 secs., eclipse 1¼ secs. Sectors: Red from 111° (S. 55° E. mag.) to 89° (S. 77° E. mag.); white elsewhere. Visibility: White light about 25 miles (optical visibility). Red light about 20 miles (optical visibility). Remarks: The remaining details of the light are unchanged. Variation: 14° W.
AFRICA, SOUTH-WEST COAST.
TABLE BAY.—ESTABLISHMENT OF SUBMARINE FOG-BELL.—Position: At a distance of 6¼ cables, 350° (N. 17° E. mag.), from Green Point Lighthouse. Lat. 33° 53½′ S., long. 18° 24′ E. Description: A submarine bell giving four strokes every twenty seconds—thus, four strokes, silent interval 20 secs. Variation: 27° W.
BRAZIL.
RIO DE JANEIRO HARBOUR.—EXISTENCE OF ROCK.—Position: At a distance of 5¼ cables, 43° (N. 53° E. mag.), from Passagem Rocks light. Lat. 22° 50¼′ S., long. 43° 9¼′ W. Description: Jaguarao Rock. Depth: Less than 6 ft. Remarks: The above rock is marked on its northern side by a black and white conical buoy. Variation: 10° W.
STRAIT OF MALACCA.—APPROACH TO KLANG STRAIT.
BATU PENYU (GLAMORGANSHIRE ROCK).—LIGHT-BUOY ESTABLISHED.—Position: On the north-eastern side of Batu Penyu. Lat. 3° 13′ 50″ N., long. 101° 12′ 52″ E., on Chart No. 3766. Description: A white conical light-buoy exhibiting an occulting white light every seven seconds—thus, light 4 secs., eclipse 3 secs.
CEYLON, WEST COAST.
COLOMBO.—TEMPORARY ALTERATION IN LIGHT.—Former Notice: No. 1569 of 1912. Position: On the head of the new arm of the south-west breakwater. Lat. 6° 57¼′ N., long. 79° 50¾′ E. Alteration: From an occulting red to a fixed red light. Remarks: Further notice will be given when the occulting light is again working.
SOUTH AMERICA.—ARGENTINA.
SECOND BARRANCA POINT.—LIGHT ESTABLISHED.—Position: On Second Barranca Point. Lat. 40° 45¼′ S., long. 62° 15¼′ W. Abridged description: Lt. fl. ev. 2 secs., 52 ft., vis. 10 m. (U.) (Experimental.) Character: A flashing white light every two seconds—thus, flash 0·2 sec., eclipse 1·8 secs. Elevation: 52 ft. Visibility: 10 miles. Structure: A circular lantern, 10 ft. in height to centre of light. Remarks: The above light is experimental, pending the construction of a lighthouse on Second Barranca Point.
SOUTH AMERICA, EAST COAST.—RIO DE LA PLATA.
CHICO BANK LIGHT-VESSEL.—ALTERATION IN LIGHT.—Position: Lat. 34° 46′ S., long. 57° 29¾′ W. Abridged description: Lt. occ. ev. 10 secs., 42 ft., vis. 12 m. Alteration: From a flashing to an occulting white light every ten seconds—thus, light 7 secs., eclipse 3 secs. Remarks: The remaining details are unchanged.
AUSTRALIA, SOUTH COAST.—VICTORIA.
CITADEL ISLAND.—INTENDED ESTABLISHMENT OF LIGHT.—Date of establishment: On or about 1st September, 1913. Former Notice: No. 763 of 1913. Position: On the summit of the island. Lat. 39° 7′ 5″ S., long. 146° 14′ 22″ E., on Chart No. 1703. Abridged description: (U.) Lt. fl. ev. 3 secs., 380 ft., vis. 15 m. Character: A flashing white light every three seconds. Elevation: 380 ft. Visibility: 15 miles.
AUSTRALIA.—VICTORIA, SOUTH-EAST COAST.
GABO ISLAND.—ALTERATION IN LIGHT.—Former Notice: No. 1613 of 1912. Position: Lat. 37° 34¼′ S., long. 149° 55¾′ E. Abridged description: Lt. occ. W.R. ev. 12 secs., 179 ft., vis. 19, 10 miles. Character: An occulting white light with red sectors, every twelve seconds—thus, light 9 secs., eclipse 3 secs. Visibility: White light, 19 miles; red light, 10 miles. Sectors: As described in List of Lights. Remarks: The remaining details are unchanged.
AUSTRALIA, SOUTH COAST.—VICTORIA.
CAPE LIPTRAP.—INTENDED ESTABLISHMENT OF LIGHT.—Date of establishment: On or about 1st September, 1913. Position: About 2 cables from the extremity of the cape. Lat. 38° 54′ 30″ S., long. 145° 55′ 45″ E., on Chart No. 1695B. Abridged description: (U.) Lt. gp. fl. (2) ev. 6 secs., 300 ft., vis. 23 m. Power: 5,000 candles. Order: Dioptric. Structure: A white skeleton structure, 18 ft. from base to vane. Remarks: No further notice will be given with reference to the above light.
CHINA, EAST COAST.—YANG-TSE-KIANG ENTRANCE.
NORTH CHANNEL.—NON-EXISTENCE OF SHOAL.—Position: Near 3-fathom patch, situated at a distance of about 5¾ miles south-westward of Shaweishan Island. Lat. 31° 23′ N., long. 122° 81′ E. Details: A careful examination of the above locality has failed to discover any trace of the shoal
