Notice respecting Proposed Town District, Onerahi, County of Whangarei.

Wellington, 15th August, 1913.

IT is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, under the Town Boards Act, 1908, praying that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted a town district under the said Act, by name the Town District of Onerahi. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the constitution of the said town district which they desire to lodge within one month from the first publication of this notice, such objections or petitions to be addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF BOUNDARIES OF PROPOSED TOWN DISTRICT OF ONERAHI.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a line commencing at the junction of high-water mark of Whangarei Harbour with the north-western side of the road forming the north-western boundary of Sections Nos. 18 and 17, Suburbs of Grahamtown; thence along the north-western side of that road and the south-eastern boundary of Waimahanga Block to and across a public road at the northernmost corner of Section No. 26, Suburbs of Grahamtown; thence along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections Nos. 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, and the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of the last-mentioned section to the road forming the eastern boundary of Section No. 46; thence across a road and along the eastern side of the road forming the eastern boundary of the said Section No. 46 to high-water mark of Whangarei Harbour; and thence along the high-water mark of the said Whangarei Harbour to the place of commencement.

Authorizing the Laying-off of Gordon Street and Scott Avenue, in the Town of Matawai Extension No. 2, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of Gordon Street and Scott Avenue, in the Town of Matawai Extension No. 2, Hawke's Bay Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Plants declared by the Mount Albert Borough Council to be Noxious Weeds.β€”Notice No. 1714.

IT is hereby notified for public information that the Mount Albert Borough Council has, by special order, declared Bathurst burr and gorse to be noxious weeds within the meaning of the Noxious Weeds Act, 1908, in the district under its jurisdiction.

Varied Notice No. 2 fixing Closing-hours of Chemists' and Druggists' Shops in the Borough of Invercargill, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists' and druggists' shops in the Borough of Invercargill, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m.; on Saturdays at 9.30 p.m.; on Wednesdays at 8 p.m.;

And whereas the Invercargill Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the chemists' and druggists' shops within the Borough of Invercargill:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that from and after the 25th day of August, 1913, all such shops in the Borough of Invercargill shall be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 8 p.m.; on Wednesdays (the statutory half-holiday) at 1 p.m., opening again on that day from 7 p.m. till 8 p.m. only for the sale of medicines and surgical appliances; and on Saturdays at 9.30 p.m.

The notice gazetted on 25th June, 1908, fixing the closing-hours of all such shops is hereby varied accordingly.

The Education Amendment Act, 1910.β€”Notice to the Public Trustee.

WHEREAS Ihipera Waikare is at present a pupil at the School for the Deaf, Sumner: And whereas the said Ihipera Waikare is entitled to certain property: And whereas it seems expedient to issue the direction hereinafter set forth:

Now, I, James Allen, Minister of Education of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 11, subsection (10), of the Education Amendment Act, 1910, do hereby direct the Public Trustee to take possession of all such property and apply the same for the benefit of the said Ihipera Waikare in accordance with the provisions of the last-mentioned Act.
