Situated on the Tongaporutu-Mangaroa Road. Access from the Town of Ohura, from thirteen miles and a half to fourteen miles distant, the first three miles being dray-road, and the balance horse-track. There is a school within 25 chains, and the Waitaanga Telephone-office is a mile and a half from Section 12 and two miles from Section 13. Steep to easy undulating and flat country, a portion of Section 12 being swampy. The forest is very heavy, comprising rata, rimu, kahikatea, beech, tawa, tawhero, hinau, miro, totara, &c., with a dense undergrowth of raurekau, kotukutuku, mahoe, pongas, karamu, supplejacks, horopito, papauma, papapa, &c. The sections are well watered. The soil is of indifferent quality, of a peaty nature, resting on papa and sandstone formation. Elevation ranges from 1,300 ft. to 1,520 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on the Tongaporutu-Mangaroa Road. Access is from the Town of Ohura, from eleven miles and a half to thirteen miles distant, three miles being dray-road, and balance horse-track only. The Waitaanga School is just across the road from Section 14, and the Waitaanga Telephone-office is from two miles and a half to four miles distant. Steep to easy undulating and flat country, covered with a heavy forest of rata, rimu, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, hinau, miro, beech, birch, totara, pukatea, &c., and a dense undergrowth of raurekau, kotukutuku, mahoe, supplejacks, pongas, karamu, papauma, papapa, rangiora, &c. On Sections 14 and 15 the soil is of indifferent quality, of a peaty nature, resting on a papa and sandstone formation; on Section 16 the soil is of fair quality, on the same formation. The sections are all well watered. Elevation ranges from 1,300 ft. to 1,660 ft. above sea-level.

The soil is of indifferent quality, of a peaty nature, on papa and sandstone formation; well watered. Elevation ranges from 1,300 ft. to 1,700 ft. above sea-level.

Situated at the junction of the Tongaporutu-Mangaroa and Weraroa Roads. Access from the Town of Ohura, from six miles and a half to seven miles and a half distant, three miles being dray-road, and balance horse-track. The land comprises fairly steep ridges and spurs, with some easy country in the south-western corner of Section 11. The forest is heavy, comprising rata, rimu, miro, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, hinau, totara, &c., with a dense undergrowth of raurekau, kotukutuku, mahoe, supplejacks, pongas, karamu, &c. The soil is of rather indifferent quality, of a peaty nature, on papa and sandstone formation. The sections are well watered. Elevation ranges from 1,300 ft. to 1,700 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on the Weraroa Road. Access from the Town of Ohura, about eight miles and a half distant—by dray-road for three miles, horse-track for four miles and a half, and track remaining distance. The section comprises fairly steep ridges and spurs, with a strip of very easy to flat land along the Weraroa Stream. The forest is heavy, comprising rata, rimu, miro, matai, totara, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, hinau, &c., with a dense undergrowth of raurekau, karamu, kotu-
kutuku, mahoe, papapa, supplejacks, pongas, &c. The soil is of fair quality, resting on papa and sandstone formation, and the section is well watered. Elevation ranges from 1,300 ft. to 1,850 ft. above sea-level.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Taranaki Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-first day of October, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

These sections are situated on the Tapuiwahine Road. Access is from Ongarue Railway-station, from ten miles and a half to twelve miles distant, four miles being dray-road and the balance horse-track. The land varies from flat and easy sloping to steep country, Section 12 being a very good section, with a fair amount of flat, and the rest very easy sloping land. The sections are covered with a heavy forest of rata, rimu, totara, miro, matai, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, hinau, &c., and a dense undergrowth of raurekau, mahoe, kotukutuku, rangiora, puku, supplejacks, kiekie, pongas, but lighter undergrowth on the flats. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation, and the sections are well watered. Elevation ranges from 1,000 ft. to 1,818 ft. above sea-level.

Situated on a branch of the Akaterewa Road. Access from Ongarue Railway-station, about twelve miles and a half distant—by dray-road for four miles, balance horse-track. The section comprises a good deal of flat to easy sloping country, rising by good slopes to ridges on outside boundaries. It is covered with a heavy forest of rata, rimu, miro, matai, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, hinau, &c., and a fairly heavy undergrowth on the slopes, but lighter on the flats, of karamu, raurekau, mahoe, kotukutuku, rangiora, puku, supplejacks, pongas, whauwhau, makomako, &c. The soil is of good quality, resting on papa formation, and the section is well watered. Elevation ranges from 970 ft. to 1,818 ft. above sea-level.
Second-class Land.

Situated on the Kakara Road. Access from Waimiha Railway-station, about fourteen miles distant, by formed road for about thirteen miles and a half, balance track. The land comprises easy slopes, rising from valley in the centre to steep country on northern and southern boundaries. A good building-site will be found adjoining the road frontage. The section is covered with a heavy forest of rata, rimu, miro, matai, kahikatea, tawa, tawhero, hinau, &c., and a dense undergrowth of raurekau, mahoe, kotukutuku, puku, supplejacks, pongas, kiekie, rangiora, &c. The soil is of good quality, on papa formation, and the section is well watered. Elevation ranges from 1,000 ft. to 1,995 ft. above sea-level.
