AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WAITOMO COUNTY.—PAKAUMANU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Second-class Land.

Altitude, 650 ft. to 1,300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly land; mostly fern and manuka scrub, with about 50 acres of light mixed forest comprising tawhero, rewarewa, and a few totara. Light soil, pumice in places, on sandstone formation; well watered by the Mangokewa and other streams. Situated six miles and a half from Kopaki Railway-station by surveyed road, on the Main Trunk Line, 139 miles south of Auckland. A Native horse-track between Puketutu and Ahoroa runs through the section.

Nearly all hilly fern land, part ploughable; about 50 acres mixed forest, mostly tawa, tawhero, and rewarewa, and a few rimu and rata trees, with fair undergrowth of supplejack, mahoe, konini, &c. Soil of light nature, on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams. Situated a mile and a half from Kopaki Railway-station by surveyed road. Section is at present accessible for pack-horses by ford across Mokau River to main trunk road.

About half hilly fern land, rather easy slopes; balance mostly low-lying manuka flats, swampy in places, with about 50 acres mixed forest, mainly tawa, rewarewa, tawhero, and a few rimu, with fair undergrowth of supplejack, mahoe, konini, &c.; fully half the section is ploughable. Soil of light nature, on sandstone formation; well watered by Ruakinui and small streams. Situated two miles from Kopaki Railway-station by surveyed road, and access by ford across Mokau River to main trunk road.

About half mixed forest, with good plateau at northern end of section; about 200 acres low-lying manuka flats, swampy in places, balance hilly manuka country; forest comprises tawa, rimu, rata, hinau, tawhero, and rewarewa, with fair undergrowth of supplejack, mahoe, konini, &c. Soil of light nature, good in forest, on sandstone formation; well watered by Ruakinui and small streams. Situated three miles from Kopaki Railway-station by surveyed road, and the same distance from Puketutu Railway-station by track. There is also access to main trunk road by ford across Mokau River.
