Broken fern and manuka country, with clumps of mixed forest in gullies; a few acres of good level land on the banks of Torehape Stream, but liable to flood. Soil generally of inferior quality, on clay subsoil; well watered by Torehape Stream. Situated twelve miles from Waikaka Landing, on the Piako River—three miles and a half by tramway and eight miles and a half by fair formed road.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned small grazing-runs are open for lease for a term of twenty-one years, with right of renewal under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908; and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, the 25th day of March, 1913.

Altitude, from 6 ft. to 940 ft. above sea-level. A small flat on Run 86; remainder of land mostly broken, with a few narrow swamps; the runs have each a small clump of light mixed forest comprising small puriri, tawa, and rewarewa, with light undergrowth of supplejack; balance covered with fern and teatree. Soil of an inferior sandy nature, with clay subsoil, resting on sandstone and basaltic formation. Run 86 well watered by Te Puna River and small streams; Run 85 fairly well watered by swampy streams. Situated from nine to eleven miles from Tauranga, and about half a mile off the main Tauranga—Waihi coach-road.

Altitude, 1,220 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level. Flat to undulating country, broken by dry gullies; covered with manuka and patches of tutu and fern. Soil of inferior quality, on pumice formation. Run 83 is watered by good spring; Run 84 watered by a lagoon and Taupo Lake. Both runs front Taupo—Napier coach-road, about two miles and a half from Taupo Township.
