The Education Act, 1908.—Attendance Registers and Returns.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-seventh day of January, 1913.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

IN exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Education Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke regulations six and eight, relating to attendance registers and returns, and made under the authority of the said Act by an Order in Council dated the first day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, and in lieu thereof doth make the regulations hereto annexed; and, with the like advice and consent, doth prescribe that this order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

REGULATIONS.

  1. The form of quarterly return of attendance from each school shall be as follows:—

Return of Attendance for Quarter ending , 191 .

(N.B.—This return should be sent in to the Board within five days after the end of the quarter.)

School. Boys. Girls. Total.
I. Number of scholars belonging to the school at the end of last quarter. [Line IV of last return]
II. Number of these who left, not having attended at all this quarter
III. Number really belonging to the school at beginning of quarter [Subtract II from I]
IV. Number belonging at the end of the quarter
V. Average weekly number on the roll during the quarter
VI. Average attendance for the quarter

Statement of Holidays.

(To be used or not at the option of the Board.)

Number of half-days in the quarter (excluding Saturdays and Sundays):

Quarters end on 31st March, 30th June, 30th September, and 31st December.

[N.B.—This summary should be forwarded to the Department of Education not later than one month from the expiry of the quarter to which it relates.]

[Enter alphabetically in order of the grades in which the averages for the year ended the preceding December. New schools to be entered at the end of the grade in which their attendance places them. Half-time schools to be bracketed and entered in grade in which combined average places them.]
