At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of May, 1913.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the Valuation of Land Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby appoint, as from the first day of April, one thousand nine hundred and thirteen, the persons mentioned in the Schedule hereto to be members of the Assessment Court for the special district set opposite the name of each respectively.

Authorizing the Alienation of Native Land notwithstanding the Provisions of Part XII of the Native Land Act, 1909.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of May, 1913.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two hundred and three of the Native Land Act, 1909, it is enacted that the Governor may by Order in Council, in any case in which he deems it expedient in the public interest so to do, authorize any acquisition, alienation, or disposition of Native land or of any interest therein, notwithstanding any of the provisions of Part XII (relating to limitation of area) of the aforementioned Act:

And whereas it is expedient that authority be granted for the acquisition, alienation, or disposition of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, notwithstanding any of the provisions of Part XII of the said Act:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the acquisition, alienation, or disposition of the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto, notwithstanding any of the provisions of Part XII of the Native Land Act, 1909. And it is hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf of the Native Land Act, 1909, and shall operate accordingly as a consent of the Governor in Council to the proceedings hereby authorized.

Authorizing the Exchange of Portion of a Reserve in Block V, Hurst Survey District, Canterbury Land District, for other Land.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-sixth day of May, 1913.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land mentioned in the First Schedule hereto forms portion of a reserve held in fee-simple by the North Rakaia River Board in trust for protective works in connection with the Rakaia River: And whereas the said Board desires that the said land should be exchanged for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto, which the Governor deems of equal value and more suitable for the purposes of the reserve:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section twelve of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, doth hereby declare that the said land described in the First Schedule hereto may be exchanged for the land described in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF PORTION OF RESERVE AUTHORIZED TO BE EXCHANGED.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being part of Reserve 1243, situated in Block V, Hurst Survey District, and bounded northward and eastward generally by the overflow channel of the River Rakaia; south-eastward by Rural Section 10368, 800 links; and south-westward by part of Reserve 1243, 315 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1913/326, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured pink.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

DESCRIPTION OF LAND TO BE OBTAINED IN EXCHANGE THEREFOR.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres, more or less, being part of Rural Section 13511, situated in Block V, Hurst Survey District, and bounded north-westward by Reserve 1243, 220 links; north-eastward by part of Rural Section 13511, 948·6 links; and south-westward by the overflow channel of the River Rakaia: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 1913/326, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured green.
