Head Office, Stamp Department,
Wellington, 2nd May, 1913.

WHEREAS by section 10 of the Stamp Duties Act, 1908, it is provided that where the Minister determines to discontinue the use of any die and to provide a new die in lieu thereof, and gives public notice thereof in the Gazette, then, from and after a day to be fixed in the notice (not being within three months after the same is so published), the new die shall be the only lawful die for denoting the duty chargeable in any case in which the discontinued die would have been used; and every instrument bearing date after the day so named, and every postal packet posted after that day and stamped with the discontinued die, shall be deemed to be not duly stamped:

Now, therefore, I, Alexander Lawrence Herdman, the Minister of Stamp Duties, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me by the said Act, hereby give notice that the use of the dies from which the adhesive stamps used for denoting duties of postage and revenue have heretofore been printed, and referred to in the Schedule hereunder written, has been discontinued; and that on and after the 31st day of December, 1913, those dies will not be lawful dies for denoting the payment of any duty; and that the duties of postage and revenue for which those dies have hitherto been available may and shall, on and after that day, be expressed and denoted only by the dies provided in lieu thereof, which are now in general use for denoting the said duties by adhesive stamps.
