Redefining Boundaries of the Borough of Riccarton and the County of Waimairi.

Department of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 24th February, 1913.

PURSUANT to the provisions of section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the Borough of Riccarton are hereby defined as set out in the First Schedule hereto, the said borough being a new borough constituted by Proclamation dated the 19th day of December, 1912, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, and published in Gazette No. 92, of the 19th day of December, 1912.

And also, in pursuance of the provisions of the said section 20 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, the boundaries of the County of Waimairi affected by the constitution of the Borough of Riccarton, made by the said Proclamation dated the 19th day of December, 1912, are hereby defined as set out in the Second Schedule hereto.


FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF BOROUGH OF RICCAR TON.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of Straven Street where it is intersected by the most southerly branch of the River Avon, in Rural Section No. 163; thence along the middle of Straven Street to Riccarton Road; thence along the middle of Riccarton Road to Cutler’s Road; thence along the middle of Cutler’s Road to Blenheim Road; thence along the middle of Blenheim Road to Princess Street; thence to the intersection of the eastern side of Blenheim Road by the northern side of Princess Street; thence southerly across Princess Street and along the production of the eastern side of Blenheim Road to the north-western boundary of Rural Section No. 128; thence along the north-western boundary of that section to its northernmost corner; thence across a road and along the south-western boundary of Rural Section No. 118 to Lincoln Road; thence to and along the middle of Lincoln Road to Moorhouse Avenue; thence along the middle of Moorhouse Avenue to the West Town Belt; thence along the middle of the West Town Belt to the River Avon; thence to and along the middle of the River Avon and its southernmost branch to the middle of Straven Street, in Rural Section No. 163, the place of commencement.


SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF COUNTY OF WAIMAIRI.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded towards the north-west generally by the Eyre County as described in the Second Schedule to the Ashley Subdivision and the Waimakariri-Ashley Water-supply Board Act, 1911, from a point in the middle of the Waimakariri River to a point in line with the eastern boundary-line of the Borough of Kaiapoi; thence by the Rangiora County as described in the First Schedule to the before-mentioned Act to the ocean; thence towards the east by the ocean to the Borough of New Brighton, and by that borough to the left bank of the River Avon; thence towards the south generally by the said bank and the City of Christchurch to its north-western corner; thence again towards the east generally by the said City of Christchurch to its south-western corner at Lincoln Road, and thence by a line to and along the middle of that road to Archer’s Bridge; thence towards the south-west by a line along the middle of Lincoln and Riccarton Junction Road, Hanson Road, Riccarton Road, and Yaldhurst Road to Russley Road; and thence towards the west by a line along the middle of the said Russley Road and the Kaiapoi Junction Road and its production to the middle of the Waimakariri River aforesaid, the place of commencement: excepting the Borough of Riccarton, which comes within the above-described area.

Resolution made by the Council of the Borough of Green Island.

THE following resolution, made by the Green Island Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments.

COUNCIL OF THE BOROUGH OF GREEN ISLAND.

Resolution, making a Special Rate of 1d. in the Pound, passed by the Green Island Borough Council on the 6th January, 1913.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in this behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1910, the Green Island Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on the supplementary loan of £650, authorized to be raised by the said Council, under the above-mentioned Act and its amendments, for waterworks purposes, the said Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Green Island; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 17th day of May and the 17th day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of nineteen years from the 17th day of November, 1912, or until the loan is fully paid off.

Resolution made by the Council of the Borough of Newmarket.

THE following resolution, made by the Newmarket Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments.

NEWMARKET BOROUGH COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Newmarket Borough Council has been authorized by the ratepayers to borrow £30,000 for the purpose of street-improvements, and the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Board has finally granted the application for such loan at the rate of £3 10s. per centum per annum: And whereas the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Office Superintendent is unable to advance part of such loan—namely, £5,000—at the said rate of interest, but can advance the same at the rate of £5 2s. 10d. per centum per annum:

Now, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and section 4 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1910, the Newmarket Borough Council hereby resolves that, for the purpose of providing moneys sufficient to cover the increased payment in respect of such part of such loan—namely, £5,000—the Newmarket Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Newmarket, comprising the whole of the Borough of Newmarket; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such part of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of April and the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of
