Pastoral Runs in Canterbury Land District for License by Public Auction.

District Lands and Survey Office, Christchurch, 3rd January, 1913.

NOTICE is hereby given that the licenses of the undermentioned pastoral runs will be offered for sale by public auction at this office on Friday, the 28th day of February, 1913, at 11 o’clock a.m., under the provisions of Part VI of the Land Act, 1908.

NOTE.—The improvements on 139 and 169A will be announced at the auction; and the value of the improvements, with the exception of Runs 106 and 107, are subject to amendment on the final valuations being made, three months before the expiration of the present licenses.

Possession of the runs will be given on the 1st March, 1914, with the exception of Runs 106 and 107, possession of which will be given on 1st March, 1913.

DESCRIPTION OF RUNS.

Run 48: Situated about eight miles from Waimate. Chiefly high broken pastoral country, running up to 3,400 ft. above sea-level.

Run 49: Situated about five miles from Waimate. Chiefly high broken pastoral country, running up to 2,500 ft. above sea-level.

Run 50: Situated about eight miles from Waimate. Chiefly high broken pastoral country, running up to 3,400 ft. above sea-level.

Run 238: Situated in the Pentland Hills District, adjacent to the Pentland Hills Road, about twelve miles from Waihao Forks Railway-station. Comprises rough, hilly tussock land, only suited for pastoral purposes.

Run 106: Situated about twelve miles from Mount Somers Railway-station, up the southern branch of the Ashburton River. High pastoral country, though the slopes are good tussock land.

Run 107: Situated about seven miles from Mount Somers Railway-station. High pastoral country, running up to 4,500 ft. above sea-level.

Run 136: Situated about eight miles west of Amberley. Comprises hilly land ranging from 900 ft. to 3,000 ft. above sea-level, with tussock and considerable areas of scrub.

Run 136A: Situated about nine miles from Amberley, on the south branch of the Kowai River, and consists of low downs carrying tussock pasture, with some mixed fern and scrub. Altitude, about 700 ft. above sea-level. Access by the Kowai River bed.

Run 139: Situated in the forks of the Grey River, about fifteen miles from Rangiora, and comprises tussock pasture, and scrub.

Run 169A: Situated in the upper valley of the Selwyn River, about fifteen miles from Glentunnel. Generally hilly, open tussock country. Altitude, about 2,800 ft. above sea-level.

Run 146: Situated on the Ashley River, about seven miles from West Oxford. Chiefly open tussock country, running up to about 2,500 ft. above sea-level.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS.

The licensee of every run shall, during the second and every succeeding year of the term of his license, plant with suitable trees, to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands, an area of at least one acre upon some part of his run. The number of trees so planted upon every acre shall be at least one thousand. The areas so planted shall be securely fenced in with a rabbit- and stock-proof fence; all failures and losses shall from time to time be replanted as may be found necessary; and the plantation shall be protected, trimmed, and maintained during the term of the license to the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.

The licensee shall not, during the months of December, January, February, March, April, May, and June, or such other months not exceeding altogether seven in any one year as the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall from time to time determine, burn the grass on his run.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 326 of the Land Act, 1908, that the undermentioned land will be disposed of by sale or selection on or after Monday, the 21st day of April, 1913.
