A DESPATCH has been received from the Secretary of State for the Colonies, in which he advises that His Majesty’s Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs has been notified by the Turkish Government that the lights in the Red Sea have been relighted.

Notice to Mariners No. 3 of 1913.

TE KOUMA HARBOUR, SOUTH OF COROMANDEL HARBOUR, NORTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND.—BUOY LAID.

REFERRING to Notice to Mariners No. 133, of the 12th November last, notifying the existence of a rock in Te Kouma Harbour, notice is hereby given that a small cask buoy, painted white, with black bands, has been laid in position over the centre of the rock. The following bearings mark the position of the buoy:—

Extreme of South Head of harbour entrance in line with another inside point: S. 70° W. (mag.).
Wairahi Point: N. 2° E. (mag.).
Red Point: S. 12° E. (mag.).

Notice to Mariners No. 5 of 1913.

DISCOLOURED WATER OFF THE NEW ZEALAND COAST.

Wellington, N.Z., 8th January, 1913.

THE master of the barque “Eos” has reported to the Engineer of Ports and Harbours, Melbourne, that he passed a patch of broken and discoloured water, apparently shallow, about two ships’ lengths long and one ship’s length wide, off the New Zealand coast, in latitude 36° 57′ south, longitude 169° 50′ east.

Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Motu Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work, to wit, the construction of a road in Block II, Motu Survey District, and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Motu, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of such public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington.

Removal of Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for Scott and Martindale, William Scott, and Harry Martindale, Wellington.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, being assured that the persons and firm whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder will not again contravene the provisions of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, hereby rescinds the order made under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, on the 12th day of December, 1912, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 19th day of December, 1912, forbidding that any money-order in favour of either of the said persons or of the said firm shall be issued, and that any postal packet addressed to either of the said persons or to the said firm (either by their own or any fictitious or assumed name) shall be either registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand, and orders that such money-orders shall be issued and that such postal packets shall be registered, forwarded, and delivered in the ordinary course.
