NOBEL COMMITTEE OF THE NORWEGIAN PARLIAMENT.
Nobel Peace Prize.
ALL proposals of candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize, which is to be distributed December 10th, 1913, must, in order to be taken into consideration, be laid before the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament by a duly qualified person before the 1st of February of the same year.
Any one of the following persons is held to be duly qualified: (a) Members and late members of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, as well as the advisers appointed at the Norwegian Nobel Institute; (b) members of Parliament and members of Government of the different States, as well as members of the Interparliamentary Union; (c) members of the International Arbitration Court at the Hague; (d) members of the Commission of the Permanent International Peace Bureau; (e) members and associates of the Institute of International Law; (f) university professors of political science and of law, of history, and of philosophy; and (g) persons who have received the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Peace Prize may also be accorded to institutions or associations.
According to the Code of Statutes, § 8, the grounds upon which any proposal is made must be stated, and handed in along with such papers and other documents as may therein be referred to.
According to § 3, every written work, to qualify for a prize, must have appeared in print.
For particulars, qualified persons are requested to apply to the office of the Nobel Committee of the Norwegian Parliament, Drammensvei 19, Kristiania.

Resolution made by the Pukekohe West Road Board.

THE following resolution, made by the Pukekohe West Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendment.

PUKEKOHE WEST ROAD BOARD.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Amendment Act, 1910, and the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, the Pukekohe West Road Board hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,800, authorized to be raised by consent of the ratepayers interested, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of forming, grading, and metalling the main road leading through the Purapura Special-rating Area, and up to a point on the said main road but outside the said special-rating area distant 20 chains from the northern boundary of the said special-rating area, and paying all purchase-money of land bought for the purpose of such deviations, and all advertising, clerical, banking, and legal charges and expenses incidental to the said works, or incidental to the purchase of the said land or to the raising of the said loan, the said Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Purapura Special-rating Area, comprising the whole of Purapura No. 1, Purapura No. 2, and Purapura No. 3 Blocks, comprised in original Crown grants registered in the Deeds Register Office at Auckland under Nos. 32086 N.C., 32085 N.C., and 32084 N.C. respectively; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of September in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off, and the interest and sinking fund to be paid at the rate of £5 1s. per centum per annum.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly made and passed at a duly constituted meeting of the Pukekohe West Road Board held on the 10th day of October, 1912.

PAHIATUA COUNTY COUNCIL.
Copy of Resolution passed by the Pahiatua County Council at Meeting held on 9th November, 1912.
THAT, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, the Pahiatua County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing for the repayment of a loan of £250 and the interest thereon by the periodical payments as required by the New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, and the charges and expenses incident thereto or connected therewith, which loan was duly authorized to be raised under the said Acts for the purpose of forming and metalling a portion of the Mangamaiare—Hukanui Road, the Pahiatua County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¼d. in the pound upon the unimproved rateable value of the rateable property within the Mangamaiare—Hukanui Special-rating Area—viz., Sections 108, part 81 (59 acres), 79, 80, 107, 66, part 104 (60 acres 2 roods), 105, 106, 109, part 67 (50 acres), part 68 (49 acres), 110, and part 111 (136 acres), Block XIV; Sections 74, 75, 76, and part 77 (191 acres 2 roods), and part 78 (35 acres), Block XIII, all in the Mangahao Survey District; such rate to be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable on the 1st day of April in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being for a period of thirty-six years and a half, at 3¾ per cent. per annum, or until the loan is fully paid off.
I hereby certify that the above resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the Pahiatua County Council held on Saturday, 9th November, 1912.
