Wellington, N.Z., 12th November, 1912.

VICTORIA.
Directions to Vessels sheltering in Vicinity of Wilson's Promontory and requiring to be reported.
MASTERS of vessels sheltering in the bays or coves eastward of Wilson's Promontory during heavy south-westerly and westerly weather, and desirous of being reported, should either take their vessel or send a boat within signalling distance of the Wilson's Promontory Lighthouse-station during daylight to signal the necessary message. The rough and inaccessible nature of the coast in the vicinity does not allow of messengers being sent from the lighthouse-station to such places or vice versa.
'Edward' Wreck.—Entrance to Port Phillip.
Mariners and others are hereby notified that the brig 'Edward,' stranded on the inner side of the reef near Point Nepean, entrance to Port Phillip, will probably break up on the first rough weather and heavy sea. Mariners, boatmen, and others should therefore be on the look-out for floating wreckage should the vessel break up and disappear.
In connection with the above notice it has been reported that wreckage from the stranded brig 'Edward' is floating inwards and outwards in the vicinity of the wreck, and mariners, boatmen, and others are warned to keep a lookout for such danger to navigation.
C. W. MACLEAN,
Melbourne, 8th October, 1912.

Adelaide. All such persons are also directed, by order of the Government, to render aid and assistance in case of a marine disaster, if called upon to do so by any responsible officer in charge of a life-saving crew, a Marine Board officer, or officer of police.
