Existing Designations of Regiments abolished and redesignated.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to abolish, in accordance with section 6 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909, the existing designations of the undermentioned regiments, and to approve that such units be redesignated in the manner as set forth hereunder, with effect from 1st October, 1912:—
4th Regiment (Otago Rifles) to be redesignated 4th (Otago) Regiment.
5th Regiment (Wellington Rifles) to be redesignated 5th (Wellington) Regiment.
7th Regiment (Wellington West Coast Rifles) to be redesignated 7th (Wellington West Coast) Regiment.
8th Regiment (Southland Rifles) to be redesignated 8th (Southland) Regiment.
9th Regiment (Wellington East Coast Rifles) to be redesignated 9th (Wellington East Coast) Regiment.
10th Regiment (North Otago Rifles) to be redesignated 10th (North Otago) Regiment.
14th Regiment (South Otago Rifles) to be redesignated 14th (South Otago) Regiment.

Lieutenant John Frederick Atkinson is transferred to the Unattached List (b), for service with the Senior Cadets. Dated 16th September, 1912.
4th (Waikato) Mounted Rifles.
Captain John James Raynes is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 14th May, 1912.
2nd Lieutenant Charles Francis Eyles Barton to be Lieutenant, vice Short, transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 16th March, 1912.
Supernumerary 2nd Lieutenant Vincent James Innes is absorbed into the establishment, vice Barton, promoted.
5th Mounted Rifles (Otago Hussars).
Captain George Watson Bell resigns his commission. Dated 5th August, 1912.
New Zealand Field Artillery.
Lieutenant Greville Lancelot Ewen resigns his commission. Dated 30th August, 1912.
Supernumerary 2nd Lieutenant Eric Hector Goodfellow is absorbed into the establishment, vice Ewen, resigned.
10th (Nelson) Mounted Rifles.
Harry Bolton Riley to be 2nd Lieutenant, supernumerary to the establishment. Dated 30th September, 1912.
New Zealand Garrison Artillery.
The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants:—
Private John Cecil Whitney. Dated 16th September, 1912.
Private William Esmonde Lennos Napier. Dated 16th September, 1912.

Sergeant Newton Calvert Jones to be 2nd Lieutenant, supernumerary to the establishment. Dated 16th September, 1912.
