Allocating Cost of taking Poll under Section 19 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of September, 1912.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

Pursuant to the powers vested in him by section nineteen of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct that the Waikouaiti County Council shall defray all the costs incurred in connection with the taking of a poll under the said Act on the fifteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, on the proposal to include in the County of Waikouaiti parts of the Borough of Waikouaiti.

Arrangements for taking Poll respecting Proposed Borough of Riccarton, County of Waimairi.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of September, 1912.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1910, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal contained in a petition signed by certain ratepayers of the Riccarton Riding of the County of Waimairi, praying that the area set out in the said petition, and described in the Schedule hereto, may be constituted a borough under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908; and, further, doth hereby make the following appointments and arrangements for the purpose of taking the said poll:—

  1. William Valentine Siddalls, of Woolston, to be the Returning Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll, and also to be the person authorized to prepare a voters roll of the persons entitled to vote at the said poll.

  2. The voters roll prepared and signed by the said William Valentine Siddalls shall be the voters roll to be used at the said poll.

  3. Each person on such roll shall be entitled to one vote only.

  4. The said poll shall be taken on Thursday, the seventeenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, and shall close at seven o’clock in the afternoon of that day.

  5. Except as herein provided, the said poll shall be taken as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, and the Returning Officer hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer appointed for the purposes of that Act.


SCHEDULE.

AREA PROPOSED TO BE INCLUDED IN THE BOROUGH OF RIC CARTON.

All that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of Straven Street where it is intersected by the most southerly branch of the River Avon, in Rural Section No. 163; thence along the middle of Straven Street to Riccarton Road; thence along the middle of Riccarton Road to Cutler’s Road; thence along the middle of Cutler’s Road to Blenheim Road; thence along the middle of Blenheim Road to Princess Street; thence to the intersection of the eastern side of Blenheim Road by the northern side of Princess Street; thence southerly across Princess Street and along the production of the eastern side of Blenheim Road to the north-western boundary of Rural Section No. 128; thence along the north-western boundary of that section to its northernmost corner; thence across a road and along the south-western boundary of Rural Section No. 118 to Lincoln Road; thence to and along the middle of Lincoln Road to Moorhouse Avenue; thence along the middle of Moorhouse Avenue to the West Town Belt; thence along the middle of the West Town Belt to the River Avon; thence to and along the middle of the River Avon and its southernmost branch to the middle of Straven Street, in Rural Section No. 163, the place of commencement.

Authorizing the Laying-off of a Street in the City of Dunedin of a Width less than 66 ft. but not less than 60 ft.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this sixteenth day of September, 1912.

Present:

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

Whereas by section one hundred and seventy-eight of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that where the configuration of any borough is such as that within any particular areas or area thereof it is difficult or inexpedient to construct streets of a width of sixty-six feet, as required by the said Act, the Governor may, by Order in Council defining the limits of such particular area or areas, authorize the Council to permit within such area or areas the construction of streets and private streets of a width less than sixty-six feet but not less than forty feet:

And whereas the configuration of part of the City of Dunedin is such that within the area described in the Schedule hereto it is inexpedient to construct a street of sixty-six feet in width:

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby authorize the Dunedin City Council to permit the laying-off of a street of a width less than sixty-six feet but not less than sixty feet, within the area described in the Schedule hereto.


SCHEDULE.

All that area in the City of Dunedin situated between the end of Fox Street and Cargill Road, being Subdivision 16 and portion of Subdivision 14; as the said area is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 32265, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured red.

His Excellency the Governor in Council.

Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and of all other powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby permit, within the area described in the Schedule hereto, the laying-off of a street within the said area of a width less than sixty-six feet but not less than forty-five feet.
