Declaring a Certain Area added to County of Wanganui
to be included in the Kaukatea and Mangawhero Ridings
thereof.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the thirteenth
day of May, one thousand nine hundred and
twelve, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of
the twelfth day of September, one thousand nine hundred
and twelve, the boundaries of the Borough of Wanganui
East were altered by excluding therefrom the area de-
scribed in the First Schedule hereto: And whereas it is
desirable that part of the area so excluded should be
added to the Kaukatea Riding and the remainder to the
Mangawhero Riding of the County of Wanganui:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers con-
ferred upon me by section twenty-two of the Counties
Act, 1908, do hereby proclaim and declare that part of
the area excluded as aforesaid from the Wanganui East
Borough shall be included in the Kaukatea Riding and
the remainder in the Mangawhero Riding of the said
County of Wanganui, and that the boundaries of such
ridings as so altered shall be those described in the Second
Schedule hereto. And I do further declare that this Pro-
clamation shall take effect as on and from the twelfth day
of September, one thousand nine hundred and twelve.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

MANGAWHERO RIDING.

ALL that area in the Wanganui County bounded to-
wards the north generally by Waimarino County from
the Wanganui River to the western boundary of the
Mangamahu Road District as described in the New Zea-
land Gazette No. 106, of the 19th December, 1907; thence
towards the east generally by the said Mangamahu Road
District to Section No. 304, Block I, Wangaehu Survey
District; thence towards the south generally by the Kau-
katea and Mataongaonga Road Districts to the north-
eastern corner of Original Section No. 83, Block II, Iki-
tara Survey District; thence by that section and Sections
Nos. 82 and 81, Block II aforesaid, to the eastern corner
of the land known as Lot No. 1 on Plan No. A/2621,
deposited in the office of the District Land Registrar at
Wellington; thence by the southern boundary of the said
Lot No. 1 and of Lot No. 2 on the last-mentioned plan,
by the southern boundary-line of Lot No. 1 on Plan
No. 853 deposited in the aforementioned office, by the
crossing of the said lot, and again by the other portion of
the southern boundary-line of the last-mentioned lot, by
the western boundary of the last-mentioned lot, by the
abuttal of a road, by the boundary between Lots Nos. 5
and 20 on Plan No. 1102 deposited in the aforementioned
office, to the south-eastern boundary-line of Original Sec-
tion No. 91 of the said Block I; thence by that section
and by Section No. 92 aforesaid and the production of its
north-eastern boundary to the Wanganui River; and thence
towards the west generally by the Wanganui River to the
place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

KAUKATEA RIDING.

ALL that area in the Wanganui County bounded towards
the north generally by the Mangawhero Riding herein-
before described from a point on the north-eastern bound-
ary of Original Section No. 80, Block I, Ikitara Survey
District, being the eastern corner of the land known as
Lot No. 1 on Plan No. A/2621, deposited in the office
of the District Land Registrar at Wellington, to the
north-eastern corner of Section No. 304, Block I, Wa-
gaehu Survey District; thence towards the east generally
by the eastern boundary-lines of Sections Nos. 304, 303,
302, and 301, Block I aforesaid, to the south-eastern corner
of the last-mentioned section; thence towards the south
generally by Section No. 300, Block I aforesaid, Sections
Nos. 299 and 235, Block IV, Ikitara Survey District, and
Sections Nos. 230, 228, 229, and 256, Block VIII, to the
Matarawa Stream; thence by that stream and Section
No. 247, Block VIII aforesaid, to the north-eastern corner
of Section No. 198, Block VII, Ikitara Survey District;
thence by the last-mentioned section and Sections Nos. 197,
196, 195, 178, 128, 127, 126, 125, 124, 123, 59, and 58,
Block VII aforesaid, Sections Nos. 57, 56, 55, 54, 53, 52,
51, 50, 49, and 48, Block VI, and Sections Nos. 47 and 46,
Block V, to the south-eastern corner of Section No. 66,
Block I, Ikitara Survey District; and thence towards the
west generally by that section and No. 3 Line Road to a
point in line with the eastern boundary-line of Original
Section No. 80 of Block I aforesaid; and thence by that
section to the place of commencement.

Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of
New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued
under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this eighteenth
day of September, in the year of our Lord one
thousand nine hundred and twelve.

in the Otago Land District.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908
(hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a
Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted
that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister
charged for the time being with the administration of the
said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic
interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make
inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor;
and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether
Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic,
thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board
was duly directed to inspect and report on the land de-
scribed in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended
that the said land should be permanently reserved for
scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such
recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained
in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the
land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic
reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and sub-
ject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

EVANSDALE GLEN SCENIC RESERVE (EXTENSION).

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, containing by
admeasurement 12 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Sec-
tion 96 (formerly part of Section 86), Block I, Waikouaiti
Survey District. Bounded towards the north by part of
Section 64 of said block, 870 links; towards the east by
Section 86 of said block, 50 links, to the main North Road;
thence towards the south-east generally by the said road,
3600 links; towards the south by a road-line, 100 links;
towards the west by Section 88 of said block, 1048 links;
again towards the south by said Section 88, 150 links; and
again towards the west by part of Section 63 of said block,
2051 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as
the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 63/36,
deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and
Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right
Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder,
Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-
Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of
New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued
under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the
Government House, at Wellington, this fourteenth
day of September, in the year of our Lord one
thousand nine hundred and twelve.
