Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-ninth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as it contains, or is supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Altitude, 20 ft. to 50 ft. above sea-level. Undulating fern and manuka land. Soil of fair quality, of a sandy nature, on pipe-clay formation; watered by small spring. Situated about four miles from Katikati Post-office by formed dray-road.

Opening Land in Wellington Land District for Sale or Selection.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided in section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Situated on the Makakahi River, fronting the Kaiparoro Road. Access is from Mangamahoe Railway-station, which is about nine miles and half distant—six miles by metalled road, two miles and a half by formed road, the remainder by bridle-track. The section comprises steep hilly land, covered with mixed bush. The soil is of a clay nature, on rotten-rock formation. Forest comprises birch, tawhero, rata, rimu, &c., with usual undergrowth. Well watered by permanent streams. Elevation ranges from about 700 ft. to 2,300 ft. above sea-level. An area of about 60 acres felled some years ago is now covered with secondary growth.

Altitude, 10 ft. to 110 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly land, covered with scrub and fern; about 4 acres swamp and swampy basins. Soil of inferior quality, on papa formation; well watered. Situated about a mile from Awitu Wharf, most of which is good formed road.

Altitude, 410 ft. to 1,150 ft. above sea-level. About 30 acres undulating to level, in fern, manuka, and blackberry; about 24 acres broken fern country; balance broken land, covered with light to heavy mixed forest comprising rimu, totara, matai, rata, tawa, hinau, and silver birch; dense undergrowth of nikau, fern, mahoe, supplejack. Soil sandy loam and alluvial on flat and undulating portion, forest loam and clay on balance, resting on sandstone formation; well watered by Mangatawhiri River and streams. Situated about twenty miles from Clevedon—sixteen miles cart-road, balance bridle-track. A contract has been let for cutting blackberries on the land.

Opening National Endowment Land in Wellington Land District for Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
