Situated on the Miromiro Road, in the Normandale Settlement, the access being from the Lower Hutt Railway-station, which is about half a mile distant by good metalled dray-road. A good residential area, comprising hilly land now in grass.

Situated on the east side of the Belmont Road. Access is from Lower Hutt, one mile and a quarter distant, by metalled dray-road in good order. The section comprises hilly land, steep in places, with easy spurs throughout. Gorse, tauhinu, and fern appear throughout the area. The soil is of fair quality, inclined to be light, on a rotten-rock formation. The land has been felled and grassed. Pasture is now old. Indifferently watered by small streams. Elevation ranges from 350 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level.
The value of felling and grassing is included in the capital value of the land. Other improvements not included in the capital value, but which must be paid for in cash, comprise house (lean-to, three rooms, sawn timber, iron roof, double brick chimney), the whole valued at £75.

Situated on the west side of the Belmont Road, the access being from the Lower Hutt, two miles distant, by a metalled dray-road in good order. Section 45 comprises hilly land, sloping westerly towards the Raro Road, and is overrun with gorse. Section 48 is gently sloping grassed land. Soil of a light nature, on rock formation. A small patch of light bush stands at back of Section 48, comprising hinau, tawa, &c. Elevation, from about 400 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level.
Improvements to the value of £186 are included in the capital value of the land. Other improvements not included in the capital value, but which must be paid for in cash, consist of: Section 45—three-roomed house (unfinished), outhouse, cow-shed with concrete floor, and 60 chains of fencing; Section 48—six-roomed house with conveniences (timber, iron roof, brick chimney, verandah), orchard, plantation, shed, stable, and 77 chains of fencing, valued at £675.

Situated on the west side of the Maungaraki Road, the access being from Petone Railway-station, which is about a mile and three-quarters distant by a good metalled road. The Korokoro Public School is about a quarter of a mile distant. Hilly land, falling from frontage generally towards back of section. About 1½ acres are under light native bush; the remainder has been cleared and grassed. Gorse appears in places. The section has a nice aspect as a residential site. Elevation ranges from 400 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level.
The improvements not included in the capital value, but which must be paid for in cash, comprise a four-roomed house (not in a good state of repair), outbuilding, fencing, and tracks, valued at £127 2s.
MAKARA COUNTY.—BELMONT SURVEY DISTRICT.—HAWTREY SETTLEMENT.

Situated in the Hawtrey Settlement, the access being from Johnsonville Railway-station, which is about half a mile distant by a good metalled road. The section would make a good building-site, and comprises easy sloping land in grass. Soil of fair quality, on rock formation.

Opening Settlement Land in Wellington Land District for Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday, the twenty-fifth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at the rental mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

Opening Land in Nelson Land District for Sale or Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Wednesday, the ninth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; and also that the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
