Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Mostly undulating land, with a little steep country; about 80 acres forest, mostly tawa, with rata, tawhero, rimu, and rather open undergrowth of mahoe, kotukutuku, and supplejack; balance tall manuka and fern. Soil generally of very good quality, on sandstone formation; well watered. Situated four miles from Piopio by wagon-road, and about twenty-miles from Te Kuiti Railway-station.

Soil fair to light loam, on sandstone formation; well watered by swamps and small streams. Situated two miles from Kawa Railway-station, or twelve miles from Kihikihi, by good roads.

Opening Settlement Lands in Canterbury Land District for Selection.
ISLINGTON, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of September, one thousand nine hundred and twelve, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

The improvements which are included in the prices of the sections consist of: Section 1—336 chains of fencing and plantation, valued at £210; Section 2—406 chains of fencing and plantation, valued at £220; Section 3—350 chains of fencing and plantation, valued at £210; Section 4—287 chains of fencing and plantation, valued at £190; Section 5—232 chains of fencing, valued at £87; Section 6—168 chains of fencing, valued at £73; Section 1A—241 chains of fencing, valued at £75; Section 2A—334 chains of fencing, valued at £126; Section 3A—204 chains of fencing, valued at £70.
The improvements which are not included in the prices of the sections consist of: Section 2—six-roomed house and outbuildings, granary and twelve-stall stable, wool-shed and yards, loose-boxes, men’s hut, cow-shed, pig-stye, and old shed, valued at £802; Section 2A—four-roomed house, men’s hut, and stable, valued at £260.
DESCRIPTION OF SETTLEMENT.
This settlement adjoins the Avenel Settlement, and is situated about eight miles from the Rakaias Township, and adjoins the Mitcham and Sherwood Railway-stations on
