Opening Land in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that
the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for
sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of Sep-
tember, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; and also that
the land mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option
of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for oc-
cupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and
I do hereby also fix the price at which the said land shall
be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Sche-
dule hereto, and do declare that the said land shall be sold,
occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of
the Land Act, 1908.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.—WAITOMO COUNTY.—MAUNGA-
MANGERO SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 1,000 ft. to 1,200 ft. above sea-level. Undulat-
ing to rough in places; originally covered with mixed
forest, principally tawa and a few totara trees, with thick
undergrowth of konini, mahoe, and supplejack. A large
part of this forest has been scorched by fires. Rich soil, on
limestone formation; well watered. Situated about twenty-
five miles from Te Kuiti by bridle-track (Arapae Road), or
about thirty-two miles by wagon-road (Awakino Road).

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this nineteenth day of July, one thousand nine
hundred and twelve.

Altitude, 25 ft. to 30 ft. above sea-level. Partly drained
peat swamp; well watered by peat-springs. Situated
about fourteen miles from Mangonui—ten miles dray-road,
balance bridle-track, but new road to be formed shortly.

MANGONUI COUNTY.—RANGAUNU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £20, valuation for improvements consist-
ing of small house.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land; about 40 acres heavy mixed forest comprising rimu,
kahikatea, rata, puriri, taraire, towai, tanekaha, kohekohe,
and manuka; thick undergrowth of kohutuhutu, mahoe,
cedar, punga, nikau, kiekie, and ferns; about 170 acres
burnt forest, balance of section scrub and fern. Soil gen-
rally of fair quality—sandy clay and pipeclay, on sand-
stone formation; well watered. Situated about ten miles
from Awanui—four miles cart-road, balance unformed
wagon-road.

HOBSON COUNTY.—TUTAMOE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 380 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. About 5
acres broken, balance undulating, covered with fern and
scrub; there are about twelve small dry kauri-trees on the
section, sufficient only for fencing and building. Soil in-
ferior—clay and light loam, on sandstone formation; well
watered by stream and swamp. Situated about six miles
from Kaihu Railway-station by cart-road.

Altitude, 380 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
fern and scrub land. Soil, clay and light loam of inferior
quality, on sandstone formation; fairly well watered by
swampy springs. Situated about four miles from Kaihu
Railway-station by cart-road.

WAIKATO COUNTY.—TAUPIRI PARISH.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 850 ft. above sea-level. From 15 to
20 acres flat and undulating; about 12 acres swamp; about
40 acres light scrubby forest comprising rewarewa, manuka,
tawa, hinau; light undergrowth of fern; balance of sec-
tion clay hills covered with fern and manuka. Soil gen-
rally of inferior quality; well watered. Situated about
ten miles from Ohinewai Railway-station by formed cart-
road, partly metalled.
