No. 30981.—14th March, 1911.†—GESELLSCHAFT FÜR
DRAHTLOSE TELEGRAPHIE, m.b.H., of Berlin, Tempelhofer
Ufer 9, Germany (assignees of Wilhelm Schloemilch, Berlin
S.W., Tempelhofer Ufer 9, Germany, Engineer). Improvements relating to receiving-apparatus for electric oscillations.

Claim.—(1.) A device operating without auxiliary voltage
for the detection of electrical oscillations, in which device two
electrodes are employed resting one against the other and
caused to have a sliding movement one over the other, the
materials and surfaces of the electrodes and the speed of their
sliding movements being so chosen that a rapid variation of
resistance is produced between the electrodes and that the
signs or signals which are received in the apparatus are
received as regular or continuous sounds.

(Specification, 4s. 6d.)

[NOTE.—Here follow three other claims.]

No. 30983.—9th March, 1911.†—ALBERT HENNING, of 92
Harrow Road, Leytonstone, England, Chemical-manufacturer.
An improved device or apparatus and process for cleaning
various material.

Extract from Specification.—The invention may be broadly
described as consisting of a receptacle of that kind which is
divided into separate chambers, preferably two, into one of
which the cleaning-liquid (for example, benzene) is placed,
whilst the other receives the articles to be cleaned. In my
apparatus the passage is formed from one chamber to the
other and adapted to be closed by a valve operated by the
opening and closing of a cover, the arrangement being such
that the closing of the cover opens the valve and the removal
or opening of the cover closes the valve.

(Specification, 4s.)

[NOTE.—The above extract from the specification is inserted in place
of the claims.]

No. 31045.—13th March, 1912.—HENRY SCHLAADT, Jun.,
of Dunedin, New Zealand, Engineer. Improvement in intersecting and welding-up bars.

Claims.—(1.) In the intersecting of bars, especially sash-
bars, the opening-out and cutting-out of one of the bars of
each intersection, with the passing through the hole and slot
thus formed, in the one bar, of the plain bar of similar section,
the closing-up and welding of the joint of the said intersection
by local heat carried to the work, all substantially as shown
on the drawing and as described and as explained. (2.) In the
intersection of bars, the passing of one bar through the opened-out and cut portions of a similar bar, the subsequent closing
and welding of the members of the intersection, all substantially as set forth.

(Specification, 2s. 3d.)

No. 31126.—2nd April, 1912.—REQUA EUROPEAN MOTOR
COMPANY, a corporation of the State of New York, United
States of America, Engineers, of 267 West 79th Street, New
York, United States of America (assignees of David Hamilton
Coles, of 34 McDonough Street, Brooklyn, New York, and
Frederick Charavay, of 225 Palisade Avenue, Jersey City,
County of Hudson, New Jersey, both in the United States of
America, Engineers). Improvements in internal-combustion engines.

Extract from Specification. — Our invention resides
primarily in an internal-combustion engine of the multiple-power cylinder type, with a gas distributing and storage
means whereby each charge of gas delivered to the cylinders
shall be of the same volume and pressure, and of uniform
richness and composition. We have shown and described one form of our invention, and the one which we
prefer to use, and it consists, in combination with a plurality
of differential cylinders cranked to one power-shaft of a
stationary storage and compression chamber having ports
which are adapted to connect the chamber with each of the
power cylinders, of a rotary intake-valve, preferably located
within said stationary chamber, and having a valve-casing
which is provided with ports and openings which permit
communication between the hollow intake-member and the
larger of the differential cylinders, and between the latter and
the storage-chamber, whereby carburetted air, for example,
may pass from the carburettor through the rotary valve to
each of the larger cylinders intermittently, and be delivered
from the latter through the valve-casing, where the gases are
thoroughly mixed, to the storage-chamber for use in the
power-cylinders. The intake-valve may assume various forms,
and may be located inside the storage-chamber or outside of
the same. For compactness we prefer to arrange it inside the
chamber as shown and described. The movable intake-
member may be arranged to rotate or reciprocate within its
casing.
