Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers
of Territorial Force Officers.

Department of Defence,
Wellington, 13th June, 1912.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to
approve of the appointments, promotions, resig-
nations, and transfers of the undermentioned Territorial
Force officers :-

1st Mounted Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry).

The undermentioned are transferred to the Reserve of
Officers :-

Captain David McMillan. Dated 12th March, 1912.
Lieutenant John De Putron Manson. Dated 17th April,
1912.

Dennis Chapman, Esq., to be 2nd Lieutenant, supernume-
rary to the establishment. Dated 27th May, 1912.

3rd (Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

Lieutenant Charles Duperier Rollett resigns his commis-
sion. Dated 16th May, 1912.

11th (North Auckland) Mounted Rifles.

Captain Oswald John Howarth resigns his commission.
Dated 9th November, 1911.

Captain Joseph Gordon Coates is transferred to the Re-
serve of Officers. Dated 15th May, 1912.

New Zealand Garrison Artillery.

Major Joseph Sadler Gill is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers. Dated 30th April, 1912.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette dated
4th April, 1912, relative to the resignation of Captain
William Hobbard Morton is hereby cancelled.

Captain William Hobbard Morton is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers. Dated 26th February, 1912.

Corps of New Zealand Engineers.

Captain Alfred Digby Smith is transferred to the Reserve
of Officers. Dated 15th May, 1912.

Lieutenant Frederick Waite to be Captain, vice Smith,
transferred to Reserve of Officers. Dated 15th May,
1912.

1st (Canterbury) Regiment.

The undermentioned Captains to be Majors. Dated
16th May, 1912 :-

Douglas McBean Stewart.
William Joseph Francis Barnett.

3rd (Auckland) Regiment ("Countess of Ranfurly's
Own").

Henry Alexander Horrocks, Esq., to be 2nd Lieutenant,
supernumerary to the establishment. Dated 10th June,
1912.

5th Regiment (Wellington Rifles).

Captain David Sutherland Columb is transferred to the
Reserve of Officers. Dated 7th May, 1912.

Sergeant Phillip Vernon Hackworth to be 2nd Lieuten-
ant, supernumerary to the establishment. Dated 10th
June, 1912.

6th (Hauraki) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant George Henry Holland resigns his com-
mission. Dated 2nd May, 1912.

9th Regiment (Wellington East Coast Rifles).

Captain Fleming Ross to be Major (2nd Battalion). Dated
22nd December, 1911.

13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment.

Captain Benjamin Stevens Jordan to be Major. Dated
16th May, 1912.

14th Regiment (South Otago Rifles).

Lieutenant Richard Westall Capstick resigns his commis-
sion. Dated 27th May, 1912.

Lieutenant John Sinclair is transferred to the Reserve of
Officers. Dated 27th May, 1912.

New Zealand Medical Corps.

Lieutenant-Colonel James Frederick Carolan, v.d., retires
under the provisions of paragraph 118, General Regula-
tions, 1911, with permission to retain his rank and wear
the prescribed uniform. Dated 1st December, 1911.

New Zealand Chaplains Department.

The undermentioned to be Chaplains to the Forces, 4th
Class :-

The Reverend Charles Macdonald. Dated 27th May, 1912.
The Reverend Michael Andrew Murphy. Dated 10th
June, 1912.

(Senior Cadets.)

2nd Lieutenant Ernest Trevor Tovey resigns his commis-
sions. Dated 6th May, 1912.

The undermentioned are appointed for service with the
Senior Cadets under the provisions of paragraph 88 (b),
General Regulations, 1911. Dated 27th May, 1912 :-

Medal.

approve of the award of the Colonial Auxiliary
Forces Long-service Medal to

Major JAMES SANDILANDS DOUGLAS, 4th Regiment
(Otago Rifles),

he having a total service to the 5th March, 1912, entitling
him thereto of twenty years and seventy-six days.

Regiment (Taranaki Rifles),

he having a total service to the 26th February, 1912,
entitling him thereto of twenty years one hundred and
twenty-three days.
