NOTE.—The weather during the earlier part of April was bright and sunny, but the latter portion of the month was very showery. The rainfall was slightly above the average. Total bright sunshine 152 hours 25 minutes, and 4 sunless days. Earth temperatures during the month fell from 59° at 1 ft. to 54°, and from 59° at 3 ft. to 56°, while the average temperature at the former depth was 58°, and 58·3° at the latter depth; mean dew-point, 47·9°; mean elastic force of vapour, 0·334 inches; and mean relative humidity, 71 per cent. of saturation.
