Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-second day of July, one thousand nine hundred and twelve; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Altitude, 1,100 ft. to 1,320 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to level land; about 10 acres fern, balance mixed forest comprising tawa, rimu, and rata, with thick undergrowth of scrub. Soil of fair quality, of a sandy nature, on pumice formation; indifferently watered. Situated about eleven miles from Rotorua by coach-road, and one mile from Te Pu Post-office.

WAIKATO COUNTY.—KOHEROA PARISH.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 399 ft. above sea-level. About 30 acres flat land, 150 acres undulating, balance rough, broken country; all covered with fern and manuka scrub. Inferior soil, light to heavy clay; permanent water obtainable by sinking. Situated about seventeen miles from Pokeno by cart-road.

RAGLAN COUNTY.—MARAMARUA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 350 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. About 10 acres flat land, 40 acres undulating, remainder broken country; all covered with fern and manuka. Clay soil, inferior to medium in quality, on slate formation; well watered by stream. Situated about four miles from Churchill by cart-road.

FRANKLIN COUNTY.—WAIPITI PARISH.

Altitude, 30 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Broken, worked-out gum land, covered with scrub and fern. Soil of inferior second-class quality, on sandstone formation; fairly well watered. Situated about three miles from Te Toro Landing by fair road.

FRANKLIN COUNTY.—AWITU PARISH.

Altitude, 20 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. About 13 acres swamp, balance undulating scrub and fern land. Soil of inferior second-class quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by small stream and springs. Situated about two miles from Awitu wharf by cart-road.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to hilly land; a few acres of bush in gullies, balance fern. Clay soil, resting on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated about six miles from Mangonui by formed 10 ft. road, ready for traffic when the bridge now in course of construction is completed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this eighteenth day of May, one thousand nine hundred and twelve.
