If the Council is satisfied upon due inquiry that a full compliance with all or any of these by-laws or any provisions thereof would injuriously affect the course and operation of business, or be attended with great loss and inconvenience to any person, or would work a wrong, then and under such circumstances the Council may on special application in any particular case, and upon such terms and conditions as it shall in each particular case see fit to impose,—
(a.) Relax or modify the strict observance of or compliance with any provision of these by-laws; or
(b.) Dispense with the observance of or compliance with any provision of these by-laws. -
It shall be the duty of every person applying to the Council to exercise the powers in the last clause mentioned to produce clear evidence in support of such application, and of the grounds upon which he makes the same, in order that the Council may be fully satisfied of the merits of such application.

The penalty for any breach of this by-law shall be a fine not exceeding £5, and in the case of a continuous breach an additional fine not exceeding £5 for every day on which the breach is continued after the first day.
This by-law shall be in force from the 16th day of May, 1912.
The above resolution was duly passed by the Raglan County Council as a special order at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 20th day of March, 1912, and confirmed at a special meeting held on the 8th day of May, 1912.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Raglan has hereunto been affixed this 8th day of May, 1912, in the presence of—

THE COMPANIES ACT, 1908.
NOTICE is hereby given that the Brunner Collieries (Limited), a company duly incorporated in England, intends to commence business in New Zealand, and that its place of business will be at Stillwater, near Greymouth.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between JOHN FREDERICK BAILEY, PHILIP MILBURN, and JOSEPH BAILEY, carrying on business at Dunedin as Advertising Agents, has been dissolved by mutual consent.
The business will be carried on in future by the said PHILIP MILBURN alone in the same style.

(London), now residing in Masterton, hereby give notice that I intend applying on the 13th June next to have my name placed on the Medical Register for the Dominion of New Zealand; and that I have deposited the evidence of my qualification in the office of the Registrar-General.

In the matter of the Companies Act, 1908; and in the matter of the Atlas Brush Company (Limited).
AT an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders of the above-named company duly convened and held at Auckland on the 30th day of April, 1912, it was resolved, “That it has been proved to the satisfaction of the shareholders that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up the same, and that the same be wound up voluntarily.” And at the same meeting A. M. PICKFORD, Accountant, of Auckland, was appointed Liquidator for the purpose of such winding up.

NOTICE is hereby given that on the 2nd day of August, 1911, an extraordinary resolution was passed by the shareholders of the above company that it having been proved to the satisfaction of the company that it could not, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, it was advisable to wind up the same.

SUBSCRIPTIONS.—The subscription is at the rate of 33s. per annum, including postage, PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. A less period than three months cannot be subscribed for.
Single copies of the Gazette, 6d. each.
Advertisements are charged at the rate of 6d. per line for the first insertion, and 3d. per line for the second and any subsequent insertion.
Statements under the Mining Act are uniformly charged 23s.
All advertisements should be written on one side of the paper, and signatures, &c., should be written in a legible hand.
The number of insertions required must be written across the face of the advertisement.
The New Zealand Gazette is published on Thursday evening in each week, and notices for insertion must be received by the Government Printer before 3 o’clock of the day preceding publication.
Communications should be addressed to the GOVERNMENT PRINTER, Wellington, to whom post-office money-orders should be made payable. Cheques should be crossed “Public a/c,” and exchange added.
Postage or duty stamps cannot be received in payment from any place at which postal notes or post-office orders are issued.
Prepayment may be demanded in any case. In order to prevent delay in publication, a sufficient remittance should accompany every advertisement. Any surplus will be returned with received account.
