Notice of Acceptance of Complete Specifications.

COMPLETE specifications relating to the un-
dermentioned applications for Letters Patent
have been accepted, and are open to public inspection at this office. Any person may, at any time
within two months from the date of this Gazette,
give me notice in writing of opposition to the grant
of any such patent. Such notice must set forth
the particular grounds of objection, and be in
duplicate. A fee of 10s. is payable thereon.
The copies of claims and extracts from the specifications and drawings are merely intended to give
some further indication of the invention than is
disclosed in the title, and the complete specifications and drawings should be referred to for a
description of the invention.
No. 29136.—15th February, 1911.—LEONHARD PINK, of
Blumenstrasse 70, Berlin, Germany, Pharmaceutical Chemist.
Improvements in and relating to jointless coverings of walls,
floors, and the like.
Claims.—(1.) A covering-compound for floors, walls, and
so forth which consists in oleic acid and phosphoric acid,
combined with a mass composed of burnt magnesite, magnesium-chloride lye, and a filling-agent, as described. (2.) A
covering-compound for floors, walls, and so forth which consists in the addition, as described, of oleic acid alone, or with
phosphates, to a mass of the kind set forth. (3.) The mode of
producing a jointless covering for floors, walls, and so forth
consisting in applying the compound of claims 1 or 2, and in
stripping and wetting, as indicated. (Specification, 2s. 6d.)
No. 29429.—25th April, 1911.—DANIEL McGill, of Te Puni
Street, Petone, Wellington, New Zealand, Engineer. Improved chemical process for treating flax.*
Claim.—(1.) A process of treating flax consisting in subjecting the flax, first, to the action of an alkaline bath, then to the action of a second bath containing chloride of lime, then to the action of a third bath containing diluted sulphuric acid, finally washing the fibres in water, and drying the same,
as set forth. (Specification, 3s.)

ROOKE, of 73 Elgin Street, Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia,
Mechanical Engineer, and JOHN RICHARD BRISTOW, of 97
Drummond Street, Carlton, Victoria aforesaid, Mechanical
Engineer. Improvements in hairpins, and mode of using
them for fastening purposes.
Claim. — (1.) A hairpin having any suitable head, and a
helix of regular pitch, or nearly so, but with the diameter
greatest at the point and decreasing in the direction of the
head, whereby to enclose hair and to compress it, as described.

No. 29452.—27th April, 1911.—FRANK VICTOR RAYMOND,
Solicitor, and JAMES E. ROUGH, Flax-miller, both of Foxton,
and WYNFORD ORMSBY BEERE, Surveyor, of Wellington, all
of New Zealand. Improvements in machines for treating
flax.*
Claim.—The combination of a series of superposed pairs of
rollers, pipes delivering jets of water to each pair in the direction of travel of fibre through the rollers, scrapers for removing vegetable matter adhering to the rollers, and compression-springs to each pair of rollers for keeping the peripheries of
each pair of rollers in contact, as set forth. (Specification, 3s.)
No. 29471. — 29th April, 1911.—GEORGE LESTER BURTON,
Salesman, and TYR HERGH O'DONNELL, Salesman, both of
Christchurch, New Zealand. Sewing-device for use in forming pile surfaces upon mats, rugs, and the like.
Claim.—(1.) In a device of the character indicated, comprising a pair of handle members slidably attached together,
a needle having an eye to receive the yarn secured to and
projecting downwardly from the lower end of one member,
and a locking-bar correspondingly arranged upon the other
member, said needle being offset from said locking-bar, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.

Improvements in a generator for the purpose of generating
heat from crude petroleum or other liquid fuels for heating
purposes.*
Claims.—(1.) Improvements in heat-generating apparatus,
comprising a vaporizing and combustion chamber formed
of a metal casing and a firebrick lining, and having an
injecting-twyer and a burner projecting thereinto at one
end, in the manner and for the purpose set forth, as described
and illustrated. (2.) Improvements in heat-generating apparatus, comprising an injecting-twyer projecting into the
vaporizing and combustion chamber and having opening
thereinto a liquid-fuel-supply passage, said twyer being also
connected to the forced-draught or blast supplies and steam-supply, in the manner and for the purpose set forth, as
described and illustrated. (3.) Improvements in heat-generating apparatus, comprising a burner secured in position over the injecting-twyer and connected to the forced-draught or blast supplies and to the steam-supply, in the manner and
for the purpose set forth, as described and illustrated.

ballotting-machine for recording separately the votes cast for
each candidate at an election.
Claim.—A series of ballot-boxes, either detached or combined in sets, corresponding to the number of candidates at
an election, and operated by the use of a voting-disc, ball, or
other suitable substance, having written, printed, embossed,
or engraved thereon the essentials required by law, each
box or set of compartments being provided with a bell,
which, through the insertion of the disc or discs, &c. (according to the vote or number of votes to which an elector is
