All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Whangara
Survey District, containing 162 acres 1 rood 6 perches,
more or less, known as Pakarae No. 2c Block, and bounded
as follows: On the north by the Pakarae River and the
Pakarae No. 2d Block, on the east by the Pakarae No. 1c
Block, on the south by the Pakarae No. 2b and 2e Blocks,
and on the west by the Pakarae River.

Prohibiting all Private Alienation of certain Native Land.


ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thir-
teenth day of January, 1912.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, BART.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

ON the recommendation of the Native Land Purchase
Board, referred to in section three hundred and
sixty-three of the Native Land Act, 1909, and in exercise
of the power in this behalf conferred upon him by that
section, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of
New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby prohibit,
for the period of one year from the date of this Order in
Council, all alienations of the Native lands specified in the
Schedule hereto other than alienations in favour of the
Crown.

And whereas, after due inquiry, made prior to the afore-
said repeal of the said section twenty-six, the Maori Land
Board for the district reported to the Native Minister that
such alienation, with suggested modifications, should be
permitted:

And whereas the Native Minister has, with further modi-
fications, approved such report, and referred the same to
the Governor in Council: And whereas it is expedient to
authorize the Maori Land Board for the district to ap-
prove, by minutes indorsed thereon, of the said instruments
of alienation, modified as suggested:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council thereof, doth hereby
authorize the Maori Land Board for the district to
approve, by minutes indorsed thereon, of the said instru-
ments of alienation, modified as suggested. And it is
hereby declared that this Order in Council is made under
the provisions in that behalf, and shall operate accordingly
as a consent of the Governor in Council to the proceedings
hereby authorized.

Authorizing the Alienation of Native Land notwithstanding the Provisions of Part XII of the Native Land Act, 1909.


ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thir-
teenth day of January, 1912.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, BART.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS Patumoana and others, aboriginal Natives,
are desirous of granting, and the Egmont Box
Company (Limited) is desirous of obtaining, a grant of
timber rights in respect of the piece or parcel of land
particularized and set out in the Schedule hereto: And
whereas the said company is prevented by Part XII of
the Native Land Act, 1909, from obtaining the said grant
of timber rights in respect of the said land:

And whereas the said company has erected a tramway
on and over the adjoining land, and proposes to erect a
tramway over the land particularized and set out in the
Schedule hereto for the carriage of timber standing and
being thereon: And whereas the proximity of the said
tramway has created a marketable value for the said
timber which would not otherwise obtain: And whereas
His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New
Zealand deems it expedient in the public interest that
the acquisition of the said grant of timber rights in respect
of the said land by the said company from the said Patu-
moana and others should be authorized in manner pro-
vided by section two hundred and three of the Native
Land Act, 1909:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Do-
minion, and pursuant to the powers vested in him by
section two hundred and three of the Native Land Act,
1909, and of every other power him thereunto enabling,
doth hereby authorize the acquisition by the said company
from the said Patumoana and others of the said grant of
timber rights in respect of the said piece or parcel of
land; and doth hereby authorize and declare that the said
grant of timber rights may be acquired by the said com-
pany from the said Patumoana and others, notwithstand-
ing any of the provisions of Part XII of the Native Land
Act, 1908.

Authorizing the Maori Land Board to approve of an Alienation of Timber on Native Land.


ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings, at Wellington, this thir-
teenth day of January, 1912.

Present:

THE RIGHT HONOURABLE SIR J. G. WARD, BART.,
PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section two of the Native Land Claims
Adjustment Act, 1910, it is enacted that, notwith-
standing the repeal by the Native Land Act, 1909, of
section twenty-six of the Maori Land Claims Adjustment
and Laws Amendment Act, 1907, and of sections twenty-
six and twenty-eight of the Maori Land Laws Amendment
Act, 1908, any recommendation duly made by a Maori
Land Board under those sections before the repeal thereof
may be proceeded with and acted upon, and for this pur-
pose all powers conferred by those sections upon the
Native Minister, the Maori Land Board, and the Governor
in Council, or any other person, may be exercised in the
same manner, and the exercise thereof shall have the same
effect, as if those sections were still in force; and for
the purposes of that section every reference in those
sections to a Board shall be construed as a reference to
the Maori Land Board having for the time being jurisdic-
tion in the district in which the land is situated to which
the recommendation relates:

And whereas application has been made, under sec-
tion twenty-six of the Maori Land Claims Adjustment
and Laws Amendment Act, 1907, to the Maori Land Board
for the district for its approval to instruments dated the
third day of January, one thousand nine hundred and six,
the twenty-ninth day of July, one thousand nine hundred
and five, the third day of January, one thousand nine
hundred and six, respectively, purporting to alienate the
