Lands reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

RANGITATAU SCENIC RESERVES.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 11 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or less, being Section 10, Block I, Nukumaru Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 17, Block I, Nukumaru Survey District, a stock reserve, 622·5 links; towards the north generally by the Waitotara Valley Road; and towards the south-east and south generally by Section 14 of the said block : as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 624/1b, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 17 acres 1 rood 24 perches, more or less, being Section 15, Block I, Nukumaru Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west and north generally by the Waitotara Valley Road; towards the north-east generally by Section 13, Block I, Nukumaru Survey District; and towards the south-east, south, and south-west generally by Section 16, Block V, Nukumaru Survey District: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 624/1c, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 36 acres 3 roods, more or less, being Section 4, Block V, Nukumaru Survey District. Bounded towards the north and east generally by Section 12, Block I, Nukumaru Survey District, 2216·5 links; by the crossing of the Waitotara Road, and by that road; towards the south, south-west, and west generally by Section 16, Block V, Nukumaru Survey District, 1942·6 links; by the Waitotara Road, 450·8 links; again by Section 16, 1461·4 links; by the Waitotara Road, by the crossing of that road, and again by that road: save and except that portion of the Waitotara Road which intersects the area: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 624/1d, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 14 acres, more or less, being Section 5, Block V, Nukumaru Survey District. Bounded towards the west and north-west generally by the Waitotara Valley Road, commencing at the angle immediately opposite traverse-peg marked xxvi, and towards the north, east, and south-east generally by Section 16; as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 624/1e, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 18 acres 3 roods 24 perches, more or

ERRATA.—In the special order made by the Pahiatua County Council altering ridings, published in New Zealand Gazette of 1st June, 1911, page 1816, the sixth line from the bottom of the first column should read “and Section 8, Block XI,” instead of “and Section 6, Block XI.”

In Notice to Mariners No. 28, of the 30th March, 1912, published in New Zealand Gazette No. 32, of the 4th April, 1912, for “D’Urville Island” in heading substitute “approaching Admiralty Bay, Cook Strait”; for “D’Urville Island” in fourth line substitute “on the mainland.”
