is satisfied that the use of motors (as hereinafter defined) upon the bridge from Onehunga to Mangere across the Manukau Harbour, and commonly known by the name of “Mangere Bridge,” is attended with risk of damage to such bridge and danger to the public: Now, therefore, the said body corporate, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by the Road Boards Act, 1908, the Motor Regulation Act, 1908, the Public Works Act, 1908, and the various Acts amending the same respectively, and all other Acts and powers it thereunto enabling, doth hereby make and ordain by special order the by-law following, to come into force on the date of the gazetting thereof.

  1. The words “the said bridge” shall mean the bridge from Onehunga to Mangere, as hereinbefore described, and known by the name of “Mangere Bridge.”

“Motor” shall mean any vehicle propelled by mechanical power, if it does not exceed 3 tons in weight unladen and is not used for the purpose of drawing more than one vehicle (such vehicle with its locomotive not to exceed in weight 4 tons unladen). In calculating for the purposes of these by-laws the weight of a vehicle unladen, the weight of any water, fuel, or accumulators used for the purpose of propulsion shall not be included.

  1. No person shall use, drive, or propel, or cause to be used, driven, or propelled, on, along, or upon the said bridge any motor at a greater speed than four miles an hour.

  2. Any person committing a breach of this by-law shall be deemed guilty of an offence, and shall be liable upon conviction to a penalty not exceeding £5.

I, Matthew Bruce Kirkbride, of Mangere, in New Zealand, Farmer, Chairman of the Mangere Road Board, hereby certify that the above is a true copy of a special order duly made by resolution of the said body corporate, and passed and confirmed in strict compliance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

Special Order making Special Rate.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Waimarino County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £1,250, authorized to be raised by the Waimarino County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of stumping of Queen Street, King Street, Pitt Street, and Seddon Street, £125; forming and metalling King Street from Duncan Street to Valley Road, and forming and gritting footpaths on north side from Ward Street to Makotuku Valley Road, £280; forming and metalling of Queen Street from Duncan Street to Parapara Road, and forming and gritting footpaths from Duncan Street to Ward Street on both sides, and from Ward Street to Parapara Road on south side, £275; forming and metalling of Pitt Street from Duncan Street to Parapara Road, and metalling from Duncan Street to Ballance Street, and forming and gritting footpaths from Ward Street to Parapara Road on the north side, and from Ward Street to Ballance Street on both sides, £395; forming and metalling Plunket Street from Seddon Street to Bolton’s Section, £130; formation of Ranfurly Terrace from Ward Street to Duncan Street, £45; the said Waimarino County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ¾d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Raetihi Township Streets No. 3 Special-rating Area, comprising the whole of the Raetihi Riding within the County of Waimarino, which includes the following sections in Block VI, Makotuku Survey District—Sections 1 to 19 inclusive, Block I, Raetihi Township; Sections 20 to 42 inclusive, Block II, Raetihi Township; Sections 43 to 62 inclusive, Block IV, Raetihi Township; Sections 63 to 82 inclusive, Block III, Raetihi Township; Sections 83 to 97 inclusive, Block VI, Raetihi Township; Sections 98 to 117 inclusive, Block X, Raetihi Township; Sections 118 to 137 inclusive, Block XV, Rae-

tihi Township; Sections 138 to 157 inclusive, Block VII, Raetihi Township; Sections 158 to 184 inclusive, Block VIII, Raetihi Township; Sections 185 to 195 inclusive, Block XIII, Raetihi Township; Sections 196 to 210 inclusive, Block XII, Raetihi Township; Sections 211 to 226 inclusive, Block V, Raetihi Township; Sections 227 to 240 inclusive, Block IX, Raetihi Township; Sections 241 to 290 inclusive, Suburban, Raetihi Township; Section 290A, Suburban, Raetihi Township; Section 22, Block VI, Makotuku Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off, the interest and repayment on such loan being together at the rate of £4 17s. 6d. per centum per annum. It is proposed to pay out of the loan-moneys the first year’s interest and the cost of raising the loan.

I, Peter Brass, Chairman of the Waimarino County Council, do hereby certify that the above special order was duly made and passed at a special meeting of the said Waimarino County Council held on the 22nd day of November, 1911, and was duly confirmed at a special meeting of the said Waimarino County Council held on the 16th day of December, 1911.

In testimony whereof the common seal of the Waimarino County Council has been hereunto affixed.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Waimarino County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500 for the purpose of felling, clearing, and forming the Waipuna Ridge Road into a 12 ft. dray-road from the end of the present formation near the south-west boundary of Section 7, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District, to the southern boundary of Section 23, Block XV, Rareté Survey District, the said Waimarino County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1½d. in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all rateable property (on the unimproved value) of the Morikau No. 2 Special-rating District, comprising the following properties—commencing at a point where the north-west boundary of Section 27, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District, joins the Waipuna Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along the north-west boundary of the said Section 27, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District, to the north boundary of the said Section 27, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District; thence due east to a point on the said north boundary of the said Section 27, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District, a distance of 40 chains; thence due south by a right line to the southern boundary of the said Section 27, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District; thence due east by the said south boundary of the said Section 27, Block IX, Makotuku Survey District, to the Mangaeturoa Stream; thence generally south by the said Mangaeturoa Stream to the south boundary of Section 25, Block XIII, Makotuku Survey District; thence generally west by the south boundaries of Section 25, Block XIII, Makotuku Survey District, and Section 23, Block XV, Rareté Survey District, to the Mangoihe Stream; thence generally north by the said Mangoihe Stream to the north boundary of Section 24, Block XII, Rareté Survey District; thence generally east by the said north boundary of the said Section 24, Block XII, Rareté Survey District, to the starting-point; including all the following properties: Sections 23, Block XV, Rareté Sur-
