MURCHISON COUNTY.—MARUIA SURVEY DISTRICT.

The whole section is well adapted for pastoral purposes; the land ranges from flats to low hills. Good soil, on a limestone and sandstone formation; well watered. Originally all bush, but fires have gone through the greater portion of the section. Accessible by good dray-road from Murchison, about ten miles and a half.

All bush, mostly brown and silver birch, with thick underscrub; the land ranges from undulating to steep hills. The soil is of good quality, well adapted for pastoral purposes, on granite and sandstone formation; well watered. Accessible by good dray-road from Murchison, which is on the opposite side of the river (fifteen miles).

Good pastoral land, ranging from low river-flats to fairly high hills. The soil is good on the flats, and varies from good to inferior on the hills; granite and sandstone formation; covered with heavy timber, mostly brown and silver birch; well watered. Accessible from Murchison, eighteen miles by good dray-road and eight miles by bridle-track.

Good pastoral land, on granite and sandstone formation; covered with bush, principally brown and silver birch. The soil varies from good on the low river-flats to inferior on the spurs and hill tops; well watered. Accessible from Murchison, eighteen miles by good dray-road and nine miles by bridle-track.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Nelson Land District
for Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday,
the tenth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and
twelve, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and
I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under
and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Situated on the north bank of the River Karamea, about seven miles and a half from Karamea by the road along the south bank of the river. Very rich soil on the terraces for about 20 to 40 chains from the frontage, inferior soil on the higher ground. Covered with heavy bush, mostly black-birch, with a little rimu.

INANGAHUA COUNTY.—INANGAHUA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Weighted with £236 15s. for improvements, consisting of a house 28 ft. by 22 ft., fencing, clearing, and grassing, &c. Undulating land, ranging from 25 ft. to 40 ft. above the river. 20 acres cleared and grassed; balance heavy bush, brown-birch, white-birch, and silver-birch, with a considerable amount of white-pine at the back. The front of these sections is fairly dry; but the back is somewhat wet, and heavily moss-grown in places. Well watered by Blackwater Creek. Accessible by main coach-road, fourteen miles from Reefton.

Notifying Land in Taranaki Land District for Sale by
Public Auction.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance of the powers and authorities conferred
upon me by the one-hundred-and-twenty-sixth section of the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint Wednesday the twentieth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, as the time at which the land enumerated in the Schedule hereto shall be sold by public auction; and I do hereby fix the price at which the said land shall be sold as that mentioned in the said Schedule hereto.

The improvements, which are included in the upset price, consist of the following: 55 acres felled only, £68 15s.; 105 acres felled and grassed, £52 10s.; 5 chains wire netting on posts, 12s. 6d.; 101 chains fencing, £84 7s.; 58 chains fencing-wire on posts at homestead, £4 7s.; house, £90; whare, £15; pataka, £5: total, £320 11s. 6d. The section is situated on the Aorangi Road, about one mile and three-quarters by good horse-track from Aukopae Landing, Wanganui River, which is about sixteen miles from Taumarunui by the river. There is also access from Taumarunui by a good horse-track, about twenty miles. The section comprises flat, easy sloping, and rather steep country. The soil is of good quality generally, on papa formation. The forest is varied, ranging from fern and manuka to heavy bush consisting of rata, tawa, totara, rimu, miro, matai, white-pine, hinau, tawhero, &c., with a fairly dense undergrowth of supplejack, raurekau, punga,
