Special Order made by the Kaikoura County Council altering Ridings and fixing Representation.

THE following special order, made by the Kaikoura County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.

COUNTY OF KAIKOURA.
Special Order.—Adjusting Representation of the Council and altering Ridings, under Section 26 of the Counties Act, 1908.
In pursuance of the powers conferred on it by sections 23 and 26 of the Counties Act, 1908, the Kaikoura County Council resolves by way of special order as follows :—

The present division of the county into five ridings shall remain, to be called respectively Clarence Riding, Conway Riding, Hundalee Riding, Peninsula Riding, and the Suburban Riding, the new boundaries of which are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

The said Kaikoura County Council shall consist of nine members, who shall be elected as follows :—
(a.) The electors of the Suburban Riding shall elect three Councillors.
(b.) The electors of the Conway Riding and Peninsula Riding shall each elect two Councillors.
(c.) The electors of the Clarence Riding and the Hundalee Riding shall each elect one Councillor.
- The alterations hereby made shall take effect after the insertion of the same in the New Zealand Government Gazette.
The Peninsula Riding boundaries shall remain as at present.
The Clarence, Conway, Hundalee, and Suburban Ridings of the County of Kaikoura shall be altered so as to bring them into conformity with section 20 of the said Act, and the boundaries of the said ridings and the Peninsula Riding shall be as described in the Schedule hereto.
The boundaries of the Clarence Riding shall commence at the sea-coast at the Hapuka River, thence up this river to Small Grazing-run 101, along the northern boundary of this run, and on to the summit of the Kaikoura Range at Kaitarau Trig. Station, thence along the Seaward Kaikouras to the George Spur Trig. Station R, thence by the Jam Stream to the junction with the Clarence River, thence by the Clarence River to the sea-coast.
The Conway Riding shall commence at the junction of the Jam Stream with the Clarence River; thence by the Jam Stream to the Trig. Station R (George Spur); thence along the summit of the Seaward Kaikouras to the southern boundary of Pastoral Run 128, Snowflake; thence by the Kowhai River to the southern boundary of Section 212, Block XI; thence along the public road to the Elms boundary on Section 228, traversing the northern boundary of the Elms property through Sections 228, 241, 244, 245; thence to the north-east corner of Section 255; thence along the eastern boundary of Section 254 to Lake Rotoiti; thence along the Elms boundary through Sections 254 and 99; thence along the shores of Lake Rotorua, and still following the Elms boundary to the Kahutara River; thence up this river to the north-west boundary of Small Grazing-run 90; thence along to the junction with Small Grazing-run 91; thence along the southern boundaries of Small Grazing-runs 89, 88, 87, 86, 156, and 157, and Sections 4, 6, 5, and 65, Blocks XII and XIII, to the Conway River; thence by the north bank of the Conway River to the Palmer Saddle; thence by a right line to the Clarence River where it touches the Amuri County; thence by the southern bank of the Clarence River to the Jam Stream.
The Hundalee Riding shall commence at the sea-coast at the mouth of the Conway River; thence north to the north-west corner of Section 89, Fernihurst Run; thence along the southern boundaries of Sections 65, 5, 6, 4, Blocks XII and XIII, and Small Grazing-runs 157, 156, 86, 87, 88, 89 to the Kahutara River; thence by this river to the northern boundary of Section 104; thence along the Elms boundary through Sections 104, 100, 99, 254, 245, 244, 241, and 228 to the public road; thence by this road to the southern point of Section 212; thence down the Kowhai River to the sea-coast; thence by the coast to the starting-point.
The Suburban Riding shall commence at the sea-coast at the mouth of the Kowhai River: thence by this river to the south-west corner of Run 128; thence by the north-west boundary of this run to the summit of the Seaward Kaikouras; thence along this to the Kaitarau Trig. Station V; thence along the northern boundaries of Runs 128 and 125 and Small Grazing-run 101 to the Hapuka River; and thence to the sea-coast; thence along the sea-coast to the south-eastern corner of Section 342; thence along a public road to the north-west corner of Section 191; thence by a public road to the south-east corner of Section 133; thence by a public road to the north-west corner of Section 198; thence by the public road along the boundary of Section 256 to the sea-coast; thence to the Kowhai River.
The Peninsula Riding remains as at present, and embraces the whole of the remaining portion of the county lying south and east of the Suburban Riding.
This special order was passed at a special meeting of the Kaikoura County Council held on Saturday, the 11th day of March, 1911, and confirmed at a subsequent special meeting of the Kaikoura County Council held on Saturday, the 6th day of May, 1911, the notice of which has been duly advertised once in each week for the four weeks preceding such special meeting in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908.
In witness whereof the common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Kaikoura was affixed to the above-written special order pursuant to a resolution of the Kaikoura County Council in the presence of—

GISBORNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
Special Order.—Authorizing the raising of a Supplementary Loan of £6,050, being 10 per Cent. on Sewerage Loan of £60,500.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and any other Act enabling it in that behalf, the Gisborne Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, as the present sewerage loan of £60,500 is insufficient to complete the works, the said Gisborne Borough Council decides to raise a supplementary loan of 10 per cent. on the said sewerage loan of £60,500—namely, £6,050.
Passed at a special meeting of the said Gisborne Borough Council on the 19th September, 1911, and confirmed at a properly constituted meeting of the said Council held on the 17th October, 1911.
We hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made. In witness whereof the seal of the said Council has been hereunto affixed this 18th day of October, 1911.

Special Order.—Making a Special Rate of One-twelfth of a Penny in the Pound.—Supplementary Loan of £6,050, being 10 per Cent. on Sewerage Loan of £60,500.
