acting by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and
declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule
hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in
Council; become a Government road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that portion of road in the Westland Land District,
Westland County, known as Arthur’s Pass Road, com-
mencing at the summit of the Southern Alps and pro-
ceeding thence in a northerly direction generally through
Block II, Arthur’s Pass Survey District; thence again
northerly, then north-easterly, and then north-westerly
generally through Blocks XIV, X, VII, VI, and II, Otira
Survey District, to the boundary-line between Blocks I
and II, Otira Survey District, near the south-western
corner of the said Block II, Otira Survey District, being
a distance of seventeen miles, more or less : as the said
portion of road is more particularly delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 30217, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Welling-
ton Provincial District, and thereon shown in burnt sienna
and marked C-D.

Declaring Portion of the Arthur’s Pass Road, in the
Tawera County, to be a Government Road.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of September, 1911.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in
him by the Public Works Act, 1908, and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in this behalf, His Excel-
lency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Execu-
tive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and
declare that the portion of road described in the Schedule
hereto shall, on and after the date of this Order in
Council, become a Government road.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that portion of road in the Canterbury Land District,
Tawera County, known as the Arthur’s Pass Road, com-
mencing at the point where it crosses the boundary between
Hawdon and Grassmere Survey Districts, and proceeding
thence in a north-westerly direction generally through
Block XIII, Hawdon Survey District; thence in a south-
westerly direction generally through Block XVI, Bealey
Survey District; thence in a westerly and then north-
westerly direction generally through Blocks XV, XIV,
X, and VI, Bealey Survey District, to the summit of the
Southern Alps, being a distance of twenty miles, more or
less : as the said portion of road is more particularly
delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 30251, deposited in
the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington,
in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured
red and lettered A-B.

Exempting Campbell Street, in the Borough of Timaru,
from the Provisions of Section 117 of the Public Works
Act, 1908, subject to certain Conditions as to the
Building-line.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of September, 1911.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred
and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it
is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply
in any case where the local authority having control of
a road or street by resolution declares that the provisions
thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or
any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved
by the Governor in Council :
And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred
and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908; it is pro-
vided that such approval may be either absolute or subject
to such conditions with respect to the building-line as the
Governor by Order in Council thinks fit to impose :
And whereas on the twenty-second day of May, one
thousand nine hundred and eleven, the Timaru Borough
Council, the local authority having control of the street
described in the Schedule hereto, did by resolution declare
that the provisions of the said section one hundred and
seventeen should not apply to the said street :
And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution
should be approved, subject to the condition hereinafter
mentioned :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise
of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act,
and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
approve of the said resolution, subject to the condition
that no building, or part of a building, shall at any time
be erected on either side of the said street within a
distance of thirty-three feet from the centre-line of the
said street.
SCHEDULE
ALL that street in the Borough of Timaru known as
Campbell Street, commencing at its junction with the
main North Road and running in a southerly direction to
its junction with Trafalgar Street, all in the Borough of
Timaru, being a distance of 9 chains, more or less; as
the said street is more particularly delineated on the plan
marked P.W.D. 29834, deposited in the office of the
Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Welling-
ton Provincial District, and thereon coloured red.

Licensing Halliwell Bros. to use and occupy a Part of
the Foreshore of Hokianga River as a Site for a Shop.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House, at Wellington, this thirteenth
day of September, 1911.
Present :
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, there being no Harbour Board em-
powered to grant the license hereinafter men-
tioned under the Harbours Act, 1908 (hereinafter called
“the said Act”), George Edwin Halliwell, Fred Halli-
well, and Herbert Halliwell, trading under the style or
title of “Halliwell Bros.,” of Hokianga (hereinafter
called “the licensees”), have applied to the Governor in
Council for a license under the said Act to occupy a part
of the foreshore at Kohukohu, Hokianga River, in the
Provincial District of Auckland, in order to erect a shop
thereon; and, in accordance with the one-hundred-and-
fiftieth section of the said Act, have deposited plans in
the office of the Marine Department, at Wellington,
marked M.D. 3715 (two sheets), in duplicate, showing the
area of foreshore intended to be occupied, and the manner
in which it is proposed to erect the said shop : And
whereas it has been made to appear to the Governor in
Council that the proposed work will not be or tend to
the injury of navigation, and the said plans have, prior
to the making of this Order in Council, been approved
by the Governor in Council : And whereas it is ex-
pedient that a license should be granted and issued to the
licensees under the said Act, for the purpose aforesaid,
on the terms and conditions hereinafter expressed :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
the power and authority vested in him by the said Act,
and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in
that behalf, and by and with the advice and consent of
the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby
approve of the object for which the said license is re-
quired by the licensees as aforesaid; and, in further
