Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

RAWHITI SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing 657 acres, more or less, being Section 3, Block VII, Russell Survey District. Bounded towards the north-east generally by Rawhiti Block; towards the east generally by Whangaroa or Ngaiotonga No. 4 and Tutaematai Blocks; towards the south generally by Waikare and Ngaiotonga No. 1 Blocks; towards the west by Old Land Claim granted to W. B. White; towards the north generally and again towards the west by Old Land Claim granted to J. S. Clendon: as the same is delineated on plan marked L. 412/4, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House, at Wellington, this second day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereunder shall be scenic reserves under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

SUMMIT ROAD SCENIC RESERVES.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres 1 rood 9 perches, more or less, situated in Block IV, Halswell Survey District, and being Reserve No. 3814, part of the land shown in certificate of title, Vol. 265, folio 36, District Land Registry Office, Christchurch.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres and 37 perches, more or less, situated in Block IV, Halswell Survey District, being Reserve No. 3815 (in red), part of the land shown in certificate of title, Vol. 265, folio 36, District Land Registry Office, Christchurch.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 18 acres 2 roods 5 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks XVI, Christchurch, and IV, Halswell Survey Districts, being Reserve No. 3816 (in red), part of the land shown in certificate of title, Vol. 265, folio 36, District Land Registry Office, Christchurch.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 13 acres 2 roods 8 perches, more or less, situated in Blocks XVI, Christchurch, II, Sumner, and I, Pigeon Bay, Survey Districts, being Reserve No. 3817 (in red), part of the land shown in certificate of title, Vol. 265, folio 36, District Land Registry Office, Christchurch.

Also all that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 acres 2 roods 35 perches, more or less, situated in Block II, Sumner Survey District, being Reserve No. 3818 (in red), part of the land shown in certificate of title, Vol. 265, folio 36, District Land Registry Office, Christchurch.

As the same are delineated on the plan marked L. 3279/78, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Amending Rules for Life-saving Appliances for Ships.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of August, 1911.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS rules as to life-saving appliances for ships were made by Order in Council dated the sixth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and three, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the ninth day of the same month:

And whereas such rules have since been amended and it is desirable to make additional rules:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by section one hundred and ninety-seven of the Shipping and Seamen Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the following rules, namely:—

RULES FOR SHIPS OF DIVISION E, CLASS 4.

Class 4 consists of oil-launches up to forty feet in length carrying passengers and plying within river and extended river limits.

(a.) They shall carry two approved lifebuoys.
(b.) They shall carry approved buoyant apparatus or approved lifebelts at least equal in number, together with the lifebuoys, to one-third of the total number of passengers and crew when plying in river limits, and to one-half of the total number of passengers and crew when plying in extended river limits.

RULES FOR SHIPS OF DIVISION E, CLASS 5.

Class 5 consists of oil-launches up to forty feet in length plying within river and extended river limits and not carrying passengers.

(a.) They shall carry one approved lifebuoy.
(b.) They shall carry approved buoyant apparatus or approved lifebelts at least equal in number, together with the lifebuoy, to one-third the number of the crew when plying in river limits, and to one-half of the number of the crew when plying in extended river limits.
