Opening Lands in Westland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the fourteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT.

Mixed bush, principally rimu, kamahi, and white-pine. 100 acres fair to good; balance inferior, wet, peaty soil. Level pastoral land. Access by formed road and river-bed. Distant from Okuru Post-office and port four miles and a half. Altitude, 100 ft. above sea-level.

WESTLAND COUNTY.—MOUNT BONAR SURVEY DISTRICT.

One hundred and sixty acres mostly level, but parts terraced and undulating; soil sandy, but fair, with gravel sub-soil, mostly covered with scrub and mixed bush, with a great deal of fallen timber. The remaining 160 acres is on the west rough, with inferior soil, and covered with mixed bush; the part on the east is fairly flat, with black soil, and underbed of gravel, and covered with mixed bush and fallen timber, chiefly rimu and birch. Well watered. Accessible by road and river-bed. Distant from Ross about twenty-one miles—for most part by metalled dray-road, and balance by formed road and Waitaha River bed.

Undulating land; soil generally inferior; covered with birch and manuka, with some red and silver pine; well watered. Accessible by metalled main road ten miles from railway-line and fourteen miles from Hokitika.

Lands temporarily reserved for an Addition to a Site for a Public Hospital in the Village of Rangaroa, Auckland Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the three-hundred-and-twenty-first section of the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may from time to time, either by general or particular description, and whether the same has been surveyed or not, reserve from sale temporarily, notwithstanding that the same may be then held under pastoral license, any Crown lands which in his opinion are required for any of the purposes in the said section mentioned:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, do hereby temporarily reserve from sale the lands in the Auckland Land District described in the Schedule hereunder written, for an addition to a site for a public hospital.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, being Section 8, Block II, Rangaroa Village, Block I, Piopiotea Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 7, Block II, Rangaroa Village, 440·1 links; towards the north-east by Section 5A, Block II aforesaid (a closed road), 226·8 links; towards the south-east by Section 9, Block II aforesaid, 442 links; and towards the south-west by the Main Trunk Railway, 226·8 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 7219/12A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. (Auckland Plan 14525A, blue.)

Also all that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 11 perches, more or less, being Section 6A, Block II, Rangaroa Village, Block I, Piopiotea Survey District. Bounded towards the south-east by Ward Street, 247·9 links; towards the south-west by Section 5A, Block II, Rangaroa Village (a closed road), 189·4 links; and towards the north-west by Section 5A aforesaid, 88·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 7219/12B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red. Also all that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 2 perches, more or less, being Section 5A, Block II, Rangaroa Village (a closed road), Block I, Piopiotea Survey District. Bounded towards the south-east by Ward Street and Section 6A, Block II, Rangaroa Village, 153·8 and 88·4 links respectively: towards the north-east by Section 6A aforesaid, 189·4 links; again towards the south-east by Ward Street aforesaid, 172 and 47·7 links; towards the south-west by Sections 8 and 7, Block II aforesaid, 408·2 links; and towards the north-west by Sections 6 and 5 of the aforesaid block, 261·5 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 7219/12C, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged green. ISLINGTON, Governor.

And whereas by the three-hundred-and-twenty-second section of the said Act it is provided that land temporarily reserved under the said three-hundred-and-twenty-first section may, at the expiration of one month but not later than six months after the publication in the Gazette of notice of such temporary reservation, be permanently reserved, and that notice of such permanent reservation shall be published in the Gazette:

And whereas by the sixty-ninth section of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, it is further provided that the Governor may from time to time, as he thinks fit, set aside reserves for any specified public purpose out of land acquired under the last-mentioned Act, provided that no land so acquired shall be set aside for endowments:

And whereas the lands specified in the first column of the Schedule hereto were, by the Warrants the dates of which are specified in the third column of the said Schedule, and the notifications of which were published in the Gazettes
