Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

Altitude, about 210 ft. above sea-level. Level land, in old grass. Soil a light sandy loam of good quality. Fronts Tainui Street, about 15 chains from Matamata Railway-station.
Waipa County.—Teasdale Settlement.

Altitude, about 200 ft. above sea-level. All level land, which has been ploughed and laid down in grass; clean from fern. Soil a good black loam. Situated seventeen miles from Kihikihi by good cart-road.
Waitemata County.—Hetana Hamlet.

Undulating land, covered with manuka scrub. Soil a stiff clay; watered by a swamp. Situated one mile and a quarter from New Lynn Railway-station by formed road.
THIRD-CLASS LAND.
Matamata County.—Patetere South Survey District.—Selwyn Settlement.

Altitude, about 850 ft. above sea-level. Generally undulating pastoral land, but broken in places; covered with scrub, fern, and tussock. Inferior pumice soil, on rhyolite formation; fairly well watered by Pokaiwhenua and other streams. Situated on main road to Taupo and Napier, about five miles from Lichfield and ten miles from Putaruru. The improvements which are included in the price of the land consist of half-share in 247 chains of boundary-fence, value £41.
NOTE.—The right is reserved to take 10 acres for a mill-site, also a strip of land 1 chain wide for a tramway worked by either horse or steam power.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the settlement lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said land shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

Section 1.—Undulating land of medium quality; 43 acres in rat-tail grass, and 24 acres in manuka and light bush. Soil of medium quality. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash consist of smoke-room and landing-shed, orchard, fencing, and grassing, all valued at £45 10s. Section 2.—Undulating land, medium to inferior in quality; a large part is ploughable; 2¼ acres in grass, and 18 acres ploughed. Watered by stream. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash (£697 18s. 6d.) consist of six-roomed house, cow-shed, slaughter-house, outbuildings, stock-yard, fencing, and grassing. Section 3.—Undulating to hilly limestone land; 102½ acres in rat-tail grass, 56½ acres in manuka and light mixed forest; 10 acres manuka cut. Watered by stream. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash consist of fencing and scrub-clearing, valued at £38 9s. 3d. Sections 4 and 5.—Undulating to hilly limestone land; all in rat-tail grass except 53 acres manuka and light forest. The improvements, to be paid for in cash, consist of fencing, valued at £9 5s.

Altitude, 150 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; 12 acres grass, 60 acres fern, balance manuka scrub. Inferior clay soil, with limestone outcrops in a few places. Well watered by small stream. Situated two miles and three-quarters from Whakapirau by good road. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash consist of a barn converted into a house of six rooms, with iron roof and brick chimney, valued at £100. The improvements included in the value of the section consist of 12 acres of grassing and 136 chains of fencing, valued at £126.

Section 21.—Undulating limestone land of fairly good quality; 45½ acres rat-tail grass, 60 acres scrub-cleared and surface-sown, 34½ acres light mixed forest, balance scrub. Well watered by stream. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash consist of fencing, clearing, and ploughing, valued at £177 2s. Section 22.—Undulating land, limestone formation; 56½ acres rat-tail grass, 75 acres light bush and manuka, 30 acres scrub cut and surface-sown, balance scrub. The uncultivated portion is good land. Well watered by stream. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash consist of fencing, scrub-cutting, and surface-sowing, valued at £72 4s. Section 23.—Undulating land of medium quality; section has all been under cultivation except 13 acres along river front. Indifferently watered. The improvements which have to be paid for in cash consist of fencing, ploughing and grassing, and scrub-cutting and surface-sowing, valued at £333 19s. 6d. Section 25 (the homestead).—Undulating land, limestone formation. A large portion of section is of inferior quality. Well watered by stream. The improvements that have to be paid for in cash consist
