this eleventh day of August, one thousand nine
hundred and eleven.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or
Selection.


ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John
Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor
of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report
of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section
one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be
open for sale or selection on Tuesday, the twenty-fourth day
of October, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and also
that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the
option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected
for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease;
and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands
shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said
Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be
sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions
of the Land Act, 1908.

Altitude, 10 ft. to 120 ft. above sea-level. About 10 acres
alluvial flat covered with heavy manuka, balance fern
country. Soil alluvial and clay, on papa formation; general
quality of section is very fair; well watered by a stream.
Situated three miles from Taumarere Railway-station—one
mile formed road, two miles unformed but passable for
bullock-drays. There is also access from Opua, three miles
by water.

Altitude, 700 ft. to 900 ft. above sea-level. About 50 acres
flat, and the same area undulating, balance broken country;
about 20 acres has been felled and grassed, and is now in
rough feed; 20 acres burnt forest, balance green forest com-
prising rimu, rata, kohekohe, towai, and a few totara-trees
only sufficient for fencing, with dense undergrowth of ferns,
supplejack, kiekie, punga, &c. Soil a heavy loam and clay,
of medium quality, on slate formation; well watered by
streams. Situated ten miles from Kaihu by cart-road.

HOKIANGA COUNTY.—TUTAMOE SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 1,750 ft. to 2,213 ft. above sea-level. About
50 acres undulating, balance broken, all covered with mixed
forest comprising towai, tawa, rata, miro, taraire, and a few
totara-trees, with dense undergrowth of kiekie, supplejack,
ferns, &c. Soil inferior to medium, on sandstone formation;
well watered by streams. Situated ten miles from Kaihu—
two miles of which is by cart-road, thence by track scrubbed
for four miles, thence four miles by formed roads not con-
nected with the cart-road.

Altitude, 1,200 ft. to 1,600 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land; about 150 acres green mixed forest comprising rimu,
towai, rata, pukatea, &c., with dense undergrowth of ferns,
kiekie, and makomako; balance burnt forest now coming up
in undergrowth. Soil loam and clay, on sandstone formation;
fairly watered by springs. Situated fifteen miles from Kaihu
by cart-road.

MANGONUI COUNTY.—RANGAUNU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 5 ft. to 30 ft. above sea-level. About 20 acres
marshy swamp; balance undulating, covered with wiwi and
manuka scrub. Soil inferior sandy loam, on sandstone for-
mation; indifferently watered by swampy springs. Situated
twelve miles from Mangonui—eight miles cart-road, balance
rough track which can be used for wheel traffic.

OHINEMURI COUNTY.—WAITOA SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to
broken land covered with fern and manuka, with clumps of
mixed forest comprising birch, rewarewa, manuka, and a
few small kauri-trees, with dense undergrowth of supplejack,
bush ferns, and shrubs. Soil of medium second-class quality,
on sandstone formation; well watered by streams. Situated
twenty-five miles from Morrinsville by fair road; or twenty-
six miles from Thames—six miles fair road and tramway,
remainder by water.

WHANGAREI COUNTY.—WAIPU PARISH.

Altitude, 150 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. Undulating
land, covered with manuka scrub. Soil heavy loam and clay
of inferior quality; fairly watered by stream. Situated four
miles from Waipu by cart-road.

TAURANGA COUNTY.—KATIKATI SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 50 ft. to 150 ft. above sea-level. Broken to undu-
lating land, covered with fern and manuka scrub. Clay soil
of inferior quality, on pipeclay subsoil; well watered by
small swamps. Situated two miles from Katikati—one mile
and a half dray-road, remainder surveyed road unformed.
