Notice to Mariners No. 95 of 1911.

Marine Department,
Wellington, 7th August, 1911.

THE following Notice to Mariners, which has been received from the Secretary to the Department of Navigation, Sydney, is published for general information.

J. A. MILLAR.

PORT OF NEWCASTLE.

Owners, masters, and agents are hereby notified that on and after the 1st August, 1911, whenever a vessel is being moved to or from a berth or mooring in the Port of Newcastle, it will be necessary to have a boat in attendance on such vessel to run lines, or moor, or shackle cables on to buoys, or to do any other work that may be required.

The boatmen engaged must implicitly obey the orders given by the Harbourmaster or Pilot, and must remain in attendance on the vessel until the work is finished.

When the vessel’s own boats are not used, a licensed waterman must be employed, and any insubordination or disobedience on his part to the orders of the Harbourmaster or Pilot will jeopardize his license.

By order of the Acting-Superintendent.

JOHN S. D’ARCY,
Acting-Secretary.
