SCHEDULE.

That bridge over the Kawhatau River known as the Kawhatau Bridge, situated on the Potaka Road, in the Rangitikei County, Wellington Land District; as the site of the said bridge is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 29946, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-fourth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Warrant vesting Control of the Waihi Beach Road in the Waihi Borough Council, and apportioning the Cost of Maintenance.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by section one hundred and nine of the Public Works Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), it is provided that in any case where a road in one district is largely used by or for the purpose of traffic to or from any other district or districts, and affords access to or from such districts, and the Governor is of opinion that it is equitable that the latter district or districts should contribute towards the cost of constructing or maintaining the whole or any portion of such road in the former district, the Governor may from time to time apportion the cost of constructing or maintaining the whole or any part of such road among the local authorities of the respective districts as he thinks fit; and for that purpose, and to enable effect to be given hereto, the provisions of section one hundred and nineteen hereof shall, mutatis mutandis, apply in the case of the maintenance of the road :

And whereas the Governor is of opinion that provision should be made under the hereinbefore-in-part-recited Act for the purposes hereinafter mentioned :

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the said Act, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby direct that the road described in the Schedule hereto, and known as the Waihi Beach Road (hereinafter called “the said road”), shall, from and after the date of this Warrant, be under the exclusive care, control, and management of the Waihi Borough Council; and, in further pursuance and exercise of the powers aforesaid, I do hereby fix and determine that the cost of maintaining, repairing, or improving the said road is to be provided and paid by the local authorities hereinafter mentioned in the following proportions, in terms of an agreement entered into between the Waihi Borough Council, the Ohinemuri County Council, and the Tauranga County Council, and dated the thirteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eleven—viz., the cost of maintaining the said road shall commence from the first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, and shall be borne by the Waihi Borough Council contributing ninety per centum of the cost of such maintenance and the Ohinemuri County Council contributing ten per centum of the total cost of such maintenance, provided that the total amount contributed by the Ohinemuri County Council shall not exceed the sum of fifty pounds (£50) in any one year, and that the Tauranga County Council shall be under no liability for any future cost of maintenance whatsoever :

And I do hereby direct that any contribution hereby required to be made as aforesaid by the Ohinemuri County Council shall be paid from time to time in the proportion hereinbefore prescribed, out of the funds of the said Council, within a period of thirty days after demand in writing made by or on behalf of the Council of the Borough of Waihi, and such payments shall be made from time to time to the Clerk of the said Borough Council for and on account of the Ohinemuri County Council.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that road situated in the Auckland Land District, and known as the Waihi Beach Road, commencing at its junction with the Waihi to Tauranga Road, on the eastern boundary of the Borough of Waihi, and proceeding thence in an easterly and then north-easterly direction generally through the Ohinemuri and Tauranga Counties to the Waihi Beach, being a distance of 5 miles 62½ chains, more or less; as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D 29857, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington, and thereon coloured sienna.

Declaring Portion of Whangarei Public Cemetery to be no longer required for Public Cemetery Purposes.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by the second section of the Whangarei Abattoir Site Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall, from the date of publication of this notification, be no longer required for the purposes of a public cemetery.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, being Section No. 1A of Block XVI, Purua Survey District, being a portion of Section No. 1 described in the First Schedule to the Whangarei Abattoir Site Act, 1908, and containing by admeasurement 17 acres 3 roods 24 perches, more or less, bounded as follows : Commencing at the south-west corner of Original Section No. 1 aforesaid ; towards the south-west by the Great North Road, 447·9 links, bearing 341° 57′ ; towards the north-west by right lines, 968 links, bearing 74° 5′ 20″, and 1522 links, bearing 71° 15′ 30″ ; towards the east and south by the Whangarei High School Endowment, called or known by the name of Kioreroa, and numbered 3494A, 1121 links, bearing 178° 29′, and 2264 links, bearing 268° 29′ respectively, to the point of commencement : be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Regulations under the Opium Act, 1908.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by the Opium Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the regulations hereinafter specified—namely, the Regulations under the Opium Prohibition Act, 1901, dated the tenth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and one, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twelfth day of December, one thousand nine hundred and one, and the Regulations under the Opium Prohibition Act, 1901, and the Opium Prohibition Act Amendment Act, 1906, dated the twenty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and seven; and do hereby make the following regulations in lieu thereof, and declare that these regulations shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof in the New Zealand Gazette.

REGULATIONS.

1. IN these regulations, if not inconsistent with the context,—

“Importer” means the holder of a permit under section 3 of the Opium Act, 1908, and includes a firm or company :

“Minister” means the Minister of Customs :

“Opium” means opium which, though not suitable for smoking, may be made suitable for smoking :

“The said Act” means the Opium Act, 1908.

IMPORTATION OF OPIUM IN A FORM WHICH MAY BE MADE SUITABLE FOR SMOKING.

2. Every applicant for a permit under section 3 of the said Act shall apply therefor in writing to the Minister, and shall forward his application to the Secretary of Customs, at Wellington.
