  1. It shall be lawful for any official employed by the Board and for any constable to measure the width of any tire of any vehicle when proceeding or being upon any road, and to weigh and measure any load thereon. It shall be the duty of the driver of any vehicle to forthwith stop the same at the request of any such official or constable, and to keep the vehicle standing for such time as such official or constable shall reasonably require for the purposes aforesaid or any of them.

PART IV.

Regulating Heavy Traffic.

  1. No person shall conduct, or permit, or be engaged in, or allow or permit to be conducted or engaged in, heavy traffic during the months of May, June, July, August, and September in any year on any road within the district of the Board.

GENERAL.

  1. No person shall obstruct any officer or official of the Board in or about the execution or exercise or attempted exercise or execution of any duty, power, or authority given to him by any provision of these by-laws.

  2. All by-laws heretofore made by the Board relating to matters herein dealt with are hereby repealed.

These by-laws were duly made by the Mangawhero Road Board by special order duly passed and made on the 2nd day of November, 1910, and duly confirmed on the 7th day of December, 1910, and were by the same special order ordered to come into force on the 21st day of December, 1910.

Special Order made by the Port Chalmers Borough Council abolishing Wards.

Office of the Minister of Internal Affairs, Wellington, 25th January, 1911.

THE following special order, made by the Port Chalmers Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, the Port Chalmers Borough Council thereby resolves as follows :—

(1.) That the ward system and the wards or subdivisions of the Borough of Port Chalmers be abolished, and that the said borough be an undivided borough within the meaning of the said Act; and that the number of councillors for such undivided borough be ten.

(2.) That this resolution shall take effect on and after Wednesday, the 26th day of April, 1911.

We hereby certify that the foregoing special order was made by the Port Chalmers Borough Council at a special meeting held on the 12th day of December, 1910, and confirmed at a special meeting of the said Council held on the 16th day of January, 1911.

Special Order made by the Council of the County of Taranaki.

The Treasury, Wellington, 24th January, 1911.

THE following special order, made by the Taranaki County Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, in substitution for that already gazetted on page 4221, Gazette, 1910.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Taranaki County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £500, authorized to be raised by the Taranaki County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of forming and metalling the Upper Carrington Road from the end of the present metal in a westerly direction, the said Taranaki County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Upper Carrington Road Special Rating District, comprising Sections 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, 17, Block V, Egmont Survey District; Sections 9, 18, Block VII, Cape; part Section 107, Block I, Egmont Survey District: and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of May in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Taranaki was affixed hereto by the Chairman, duly authorized by resolution of the said Council passed on the 5th day of December, 1910.

STRATFORD COUNTY COUNCIL.

Special Order.

In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Stratford County Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £100, authorized to be raised by the Stratford County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purpose of defraying the cost of forming and metalling the Cross Road from the present end of the metal to Mr. Friday’s gate, the Stratford County Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of ½d. in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Cross Road No. 3 Special Rating District, comprising Sections 5, 6, the western half of 48, and the southern 111 acres 3 roods 1 perch of 56, Block XIV, Huiroa Survey District; and that such rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the 1st day of February in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off.
