Special Order made by the Hutt County Council merging Plimmerton Road District.

THE following special order, made by the Hutt County Council, is published for general information.

SPECIAL ORDER MADE BY THE HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to the provisions of the Counties Act, 1908, and amendments thereof, and any and every other Act enabling it, the Hutt County Council having received a petition of the ratepayers of the Plimmerton Road District praying the said Council to merge the said road district in the County of Hutt :
Now, therefore, the Hutt County Council hereby resolves and declares that from and after the date of confirmation of this resolution as a special order on the 27th day of February, 1909, the said road district of Plimmerton shall be and is merged in the County of Hutt, and the Road Board of the said road district shall be and is dissolved.
The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Hutt was hereto affixed, this 27th day of February, 1909, in the presence of the Council, and signed by—

Special Order made by the Mangawhero Road Board, County of Wanganui, making By-laws.

THE following special order, made by the Mangawhero Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

MANGAWHERO ROAD BOARD.
IN pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in the Mangawhero Road Board by the Road Boards Act, 1908, and of all and each and every other power and authority thereunto or in that behalf enabling it, the Mangawhero Road Board doth hereby by way of special order make the following by-laws, which by-laws shall come into force on the 21st day of December, 1910.
PART I.
Interpretation.
In the construction of these by-laws—
“Bridge” includes any culvert, and means any bridge connected with any road as hereinafter defined :
“Board” means the Mangawhero Road Board :
“District” means the Mangawhero Road Board District :
“Heavy traffic” means—
(a.) The transportation of any vehicle, engine, or machine which shall itself or together with any thing or things being transported thereon weigh more than 1½ tons avoirdupois to each pair of wheels ;
(b.) The traction of any vehicle or thing by means of bullocks, notwithstanding that such vehicle or thing may separately or together with any load thereon weigh less than 1½ tons avoirdupois ;
(c.) Any other heavy traffic coming for the time being within the term as used in section 139, subsection (1), of the Public Works Act, 1908 :
“Owner” of any vehicle shall include a bailee entitled to the possession and use or profit thereof.
Words importing the singular number include the plural number, and vice versa ; and words importing the masculine gender include the feminine gender :
“Person” includes corporations :
“Road” includes all bridges, culverts, drains, ferries, fords, gates, buildings, and other things thereto belonging upon the line and within the limits of the road ; and means roads under the care, control, and management of the Board, and any other roads as to which these by-laws are capable of operating.
PART II.
Penalties.
- Every person who shall do or suffer, or permit, or omit, or procure or cause to be done or omitted, any act, matter, or thing contrary to or otherwise than as provided by these by-laws or any clause or provision thereof shall be deemed to have committed a breach thereof.
- Any person committing a breach of these by-laws, or any clause or provision thereof, shall on conviction be liable to a penalty not exceeding £5.
PART III.
Regulating Width of Tires.
- The width of the tires of the wheels of any vehicle (whether plying for hire or not) carrying goods or produce, or merchandise of any description (other than passengers, luggage, or goods carried by vehicles used chiefly for the carriage of passengers) upon any road shall bear the following proportion to the number of animals employed to draw the same, that is to say :—

- Nothing in this section shall apply to ratepayers carting wool, grain, or other agricultural produce (except firewood), the bona fide produce of their own farms, away from their property over unmetalled roads, nor shall this section apply to ratepayers carting stores, agricultural machinery (except traction-engines), or firewood to their own properties, or to lands occupied by them, for their own use over unmetalled roads.
- No person shall use, or cause or permit to be used, upon any road any vehicle having tires of less width or carrying any load of greater weight than are respectively hereinbefore prescribed.
