Land reserved under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves: And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the land described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said land should be permanently reserved for scenic purposes, and it is expedient to give effect to such recommendation:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers contained in the said Act, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereunder shall be a scenic reserve under the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908, and subject to the provisions thereof.

SCHEDULE.

OHAKUNE SCENIC RESERVE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing by admeasurement 1,250 acres, more or less, being Section No. 4, Block IV, Makotuku Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Sections Nos. 11, 10, 9, and 8, Block XVI, Manganui Survey District; towards the north-east generally by Section No. 1, Block IV aforesaid, Raetihi No. 5a Block, Section No. 3, Block IV aforesaid, and Raetihi No. 5b Block; towards the south-east by the Ma-

ngawhero River; and towards the south-west generally by railway reserve, part of Raetihi No. 4b Block, a public road, and again by part of Raetihi No. 4b Block: excepting the roads and railway reserve which intersect the above-described area: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 420/54, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered green.

Additional Parcel Regulations.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House, at Wellington, this tenth day of July, 1911.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-sixth day of December, nineteen hundred and seven, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirty-first day of December, nineteen hundred and seven, regulations were made under the authority of the Post Office Act, 1900, for the conveyance of parcels by means of the Post Office: And whereas it is desirable to amend those regulations as hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, and of all other powers in that behalf enabling him, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby make the additional regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth further order that these regulations shall form part of and be read together with the regulations first herein mentioned, and shall come into force on the date of publication of this Order in Council in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

PROHIBITIONS.

  1. Sour fruit shall not be accepted for transmission unless enclosed in liquid-tight tins, and securely packed. Regulation 12 (relating to prohibitions) of the original regulations is hereby amended accordingly.

CUSTOMS AND OTHER CHARGES PAYABLE BY SENDER.

  1. Customs and other charges ordinarily payable by the addressees of parcels may, in the case of parcels addressed to Australia or Papua, be prepaid by the sender, subject to the following conditions:—

(1.) The sender shall pay a fee of 6d., sign an undertaking to pay on demand the amount due, and make a deposit on account of the charges. The deposit shall be at the rate of 1s. for each 4s. or fraction of 4s. of the declared value of the parcel.

(2.) A final settlement will take place when a notification of the amount due has been received from Australia or Papua.

(3.) An undertaking to pay charges under this arrangement shall not be accepted if the sender is residing only temporarily in New Zealand, or is unable to give a settled address in this Dominion.

UNDELIVERED AND UNCLAIMED PARCELS.

  1. Unclaimed parcels originating in Australia shall, in the absence of instructions from the sender, be retained for four months from the date of the posting of the advice of non-delivery, and shall then be returned through the Dead Letter Office to the State in which they so originated.
