A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Hurunui-Wai-taki Railway to take further land in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway, and also to take land for a road-diversion in connection therewith:
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-nine and one hundred and eighty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land mentioned in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned.

Defining the Middle-line of a Further Portion of the North Auckland Railway.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS the extension of the North Auckland Railway (formerly known as the Helensville Northwards Railway) to McCarroll's Gap (hereinafter termed “the said railway”) is a railway the construction of which is authorized by the Railways Authorization Act, 1910 : And whereas the said railway has been partly constructed, and it has been determined to construct and maintain a further portion of the same :
Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Public Works Act, 1908, and in exercise of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the middle-line of the said further portion of the said railway shall be that defined and set forth in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
COMMENCING at a point in Section 2050A, Bickerstaffe Settlement, Block XII, Waipu Survey District, which point is marked 86 miles 70 chains, and is about 1194 chains due south of the northern boundary and about 1451 chains due east of the western boundary of said Block XII, Waipu Survey District, and is also the terminating-point of the railway described in a Proclamation dated the 10th day of December, 1910, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 107, of the 15th December, 1910 ; proceeding thence generally in a north-westerly direction for a distance of 6 miles 50 chains, and passing in, into, through, or over the following lands, viz. : Sections 2050A, 4475A (blue), Bickerstaffe Settlement ; Sections 61, 62, 63, and 73, Block XII, Waipu Survey District ; Section 73, Huarau Block 1055 (red) ; Sections 151, 86, 83, 81, 79, and 80, Block XVI, Matakohe Survey District ; Sections 80, 79, 78, south-western portion 30, south-eastern portion 42, south-eastern middle portion 42, middle portion 42, north-west portion 42, south-eastern portion 41, north-west portion 41, 142, 145, 153 (C.L.), 148, and 141, Block XII, Matakohe Survey District ; and terminating at a point marked 93 miles 40 chains, which point is about 621 chains due south of the northern boundary, and about 1101 chains due west of the eastern boundary of Block XII, Matakohe Survey District ; including all adjoining and intervening places, lands, reserves, roads, tracks, rivers, streams, and water-courses : all in the Land District of Auckland : as the same is delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 29532, de- posited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, at Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.

WHEREAS by the Scenery Preservation Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), a Scenery Preservation Board is constituted, and it is enacted that such Board shall, when so directed by the Minister charged for the time being with the administration of the said Act, inspect any lands possessing scenic or historic interest, or on which there are thermal springs, and make inquiries respecting the same, and report to the Governor; and shall from time to time recommend what lands, whether Crown or private, shall be permanently reserved as scenic, thermal, or historic reserves : And whereas the said Board was duly directed to inspect and report on the lands described in the Schedule hereunder, and has recommended that the said lands should be perma-
