THE following special order, made by the Rangiora Road Board, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Road Boards Act, 1908.

RANGIORA ROAD BOARD.
Special Order.
THE Rangiora Road Board, in pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by the Road Boards Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, the Public Works Act, 1908, and the Acts amending the same respectively, and by virtue of a Warrant dated the 22nd day of June, 1910, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, in terms of section 119 of the Public Works Act, 1908, and in pursuance of all other Acts and powers, if any, enabling it in that behalf, hereby resolves by special order to borrow by way of special loan the sum of £1,000 for the purpose of providing the Rangiora Road Board’s share of the cost of constructing a bridge over the Ashley River and approaches thereto as described in the said Warrant; that the loan be called the Ashley Traffic Bridge Loan; that the currency of the said special loan shall be for a period of thirty-six years and a half, and be payable by half-yearly instalments each compounded of principal and interest; that the interest of the said special loan be at the rate of 3½ per centum per annum, and be payable half-yearly; that the Board doth hereby appropriate and pledge as security for the repayment of the said special loan and interest and other charges thereon a special rate of 1/64 of a penny in the pound, to be made and levied by the Board over the whole of the rateable value of the rateable property in the Rangiora Road District.
Adopted by the Rangiora Road Board on the 11th day of April, 1911, and confirmed as a special order on the 12th day of May, 1911; and the common seal of the Board was hereto affixed this 12th day of May, 1911, by order of the Board, in the presence of—

RANGIORA ROAD BOARD.
Special Rate.
THE Rangiora Road Board, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Road Boards Act, 1908, the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and its amendments, and the Public Works Act, 1908, and all other powers and authorities enabling it in that behalf, hereby resolves: That, for the purpose of providing for the repayment of the special loan of £1,000, and the payment of all interest and other charges on the said loan called the Ashley Traffic Bridge Loan, authorized to be raised, under the above-mentioned Acts, for the purpose of providing the Rangiora Road Board’s share of the cost of constructing a bridge over the Ashley River and the approaches thereto, as described in a Warrant dated the 22nd day of June, 1910, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government, the Rangiora Road Board hereby makes and levies a special rate of 1/64 of a penny in the pound on the rateable value of all rateable property within the Rangiora Road District; and that such special rate be an annually recurring rate, payable yearly on the 16th day of August in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six years and a half, or until the loan is fully paid off.
Adopted by the Rangiora Road Board, and the seal of the Board was hereto affixed by order of the Board in the presence of us, this 12th day of May, 1911.

THE following resolution, made by the Birkenhead Borough Council, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908.

BOROUGH OF BIRKENHEAD.
Special Rate to meet Interest and Principal on Loan of £25,000.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1908, and amendments thereof, the Birkenhead Borough Council hereby resolves as follows: That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £25,000, authorized to be raised by the Birkenhead Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act,—
To provide a water-supply for the borough, having Lake Takapuna as its source, laying the pipes from thence to the borough via Takapuna and Birkenhead Ridings of the Waitemata County, with the necessary reticulating-pipes throughout the borough; the purchase of a pumping-site and reservoir-site, and all incidental matters connected with the water-supply, according to the plans and specifications marked “A,” prepared by Messrs. H. H. Metcalfe and Son, engineers to the borough, the cost of such water-supply being estimated at twenty-one thousand two hundred and thirty pounds (£21,230):
Also to carry out the necessary cuttings, fillings, channelling, kerbing, and metalling of roadway, tarring and sanding footpaths, compensation (if any), and all other works incidental to the carrying-out of a scheme of improvement to the grade of the roadway from Harbour View Corner along the main roadway as far as the corner of the old Lake Road, as shown on the plan marked “B,” coloured red, prepared by Messrs. H. H. Metcalfe and Son, engineers, and from Highbury Corner along Roberts Road as far as the junction with Roseberry Avenue, also coloured red on the plan referred to, the cost of such work being estimated at two thousand six hundred pounds (£2,600):
And also from Verran’s Corner, Victoria Road, along Birkdale Road as far as Pine Avenue, thence along Pine Avenue to Baden-Powell Road, thence along Baden-Powell Road to the junction of Victoria Road, thence along Victoria Road as far as Verran’s Corner before mentioned, as shown on plan marked “B,” coloured green, prepared by Messrs. H. H. Metcalfe and Son, the cost of such work being estimated at one thousand and fifty pounds (£1,050):
Also to provide a road-roller for borough purposes at a cost estimated at one hundred and twenty pounds (£120):
The proposed security for the repayment of such loan shall be a special rate of 1s. 5½d. in the pound on the annual value of all rateable property in the borough, such rate to provide for interest and sinking fund in connection with the loan, and to be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan:
It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan and the interest for the first year. Interest and sinking fund on such loan to be at the rate of £2 8s. 9d., payable half-yearly, for every £100 of the loan as provision for repayment thereof, in terms of the first schedule of Table No. 1, New Zealand State-guaranteed Advances Act, 1909, regulations:
