LOCALITY AND DESCRIPTION.
These sections are situated opposite the Ohakune Railway-station, on the North Island Main Trunk Railway line, about midway between Auckland and Wellington. The main town, distant rather more than a mile, contains a post and telegraph office, school, town hall, and numerous stores and accommodation-houses. It is the outlet of a splendid saw-milling and dairying district, and has grown rapidly during the past few years. The sections comprise for the most part flat and undulating land, rather wet in places, but easily drained. All are in heavy standing bush, comprising principally rimu, birch, matai, and kahikatea. The soil is light, partly on clay and partly on grit formation.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-third day of May, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Acting Minister of Lands.

Level sections covered with tussock, rushes, and grass. The soil is pumice grit, with a fair amount of vegetable matter intermixed overlying volcanic débris on papa formation. The Waitaki Stream, on which the town is situated, and other streams in the vicinity are visited during the season by a good number of anglers.
