Low-lying, swampy land. Situated on the bank of the Waikato River, less than one mile from Rangiriri Post-office. Manuka, furze, and blackberries are growing on the section. Rangiriri is fifty-six miles from Auckland, on the Main Trunk Railway.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Open fern land, broken by gully; clay soil; watered by small swamp. Situated two miles and a half from Whatawhata by fair road.

Opening Lands in Otago Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the seventh day of August, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Open flat land of medium quality. Sections 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, and 10 are ploughable. On Sections 1, 2, and 8 the soil is shingly, and covered with matagouri scrub. One small gully intersects Section 6, in which water can be obtained in winter; but, as the whole block is only a few feet higher than Lake Wakatipu, water could be obtained by sinking. Distant about thirty miles from Queenstown.

Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-sixth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and eleven; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

Altitude, 10 ft. to 50 ft. above sea-level. Part undulating, but mostly level, covered with manuka scrub; stony land. Soil of second-class quality, on sandstone formation; indifferently watered by springs and a small stream. Situated eleven miles from Russell and half a mile from Purerua Butter-factory by water in each case.

BAY OF ISLANDS COUNTY.—RUAPEKAPEKA PARISH.

Altitude, from 200 ft. to 400 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to level land, covered with manuka scrub. Soil of second-class quality, on sandstone formation. Water can be obtained by sinking. Situated about six miles from Kawakawa by fair road.

Broken land, growing mixed forest, comprising rata, rimu, kohokohe, pukatea, mangaeo, and tawa, with dense undergrowth of supplejack, nikau, kiekie, ferns, and shrubs. Soil of fairly good second-class quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams. Situated five miles and a half from Raglan by fair made road.

HOBSON COUNTY.—KAIHU SURVEY DISTRICT.

Altitude, 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Undulating fern and manuka land, with small clump of half-burnt forest. Soil of second-class quality, on clay subsoil; well watered by a small stream. Situated three miles from Kaihu, one mile of which is good formed road, and two miles rough track passable for bullock-drays.

OPOTIKI COUNTY.—WAIOTAHİ PARISH.
