Extract from Specification.-The invention consists in an improved construction of frame for carrying and operating these presser-pads and for their adjustment and attachment on the cow, in an improved construction of pulsator for alternately connecting the actuating-pistons with compressed air and atmospheric pressure, and in a construction and arrangement of inlet-valves for the pistons, designed to provide for the upper piston of each pad being first connected with the air-pressure and for the other piston then being connected so that the teats will be submitted to pressure first at their upper ends.

Claims.--(1.) A concave roller having its outer or wearing surface chilled, substantially as and for the purpose set forth. (2.) A scraper for concave rollers formed of a series of teeth arranged side by side, substantially as described. (3.) A scraper for concave rollers formed of a series of curved spring teeth arranged side by side, the upper ends of said teeth being secured to a cross-piece extending above the roller and their other ends resting on the concave surface of the roller, substantially as described.

Extract from Specification.--A conveyor-chute comprised of endless travelling belts adapted to convey the letters in a vertical position to the table, after which they are stacked and ready to be removed.

Claim.--A garden-roller comprising an outer cylindrical casing having an inner casing within it, the space between the casings being filled with concrete or the like, and means being provided within the inner casing for connecting a handle, substantially as described.

No. 28054. - 12th July, 1910. - JAMES DOUGALD MC LAURIN, of Pohangina, Inventor, and ANDREW MCLAURIN, of Marokopa, near Te Kuiti, New Zealand, Clerk. Improved tank or vat.*

Extract from Specification.--The invention consists in forming the tank or vat with a bottom sloping to one side, and in providing a sediment-chamber in the bottom at the lower end of the incline therein. This chamber is made of funnel shape, and is provided with a plug or other suitable valve by which an opening through its bottom may be opened when required. The valve is so constructed that it may be operated from the outside of the tank when it is required to empty the chamber.

No. 28070.-14th July, 1910.-THOMAS TAYLOR, of Herbertville, New Zealand, Farmer. An improved hurdle.*

Claims.--(1.) The improved hurdle consisting of standards, and a hurdle-frame pivotally hung upon the standards in such a manner that the top of the frame will be capable of swinging backwards, substantially as and for the purposes specified. (2.) The improved hurdle constructed, arranged, and operating substantially as described and explained, and as illustrated in the drawings.

No. 28080. - 15th July, 1910. - HENRY HARTWIG CHRISTOPH SCHULZE, of Alton, in the Dominion of New Zealand, Farmer. An improved machine for distributing liquid manure.*

Extract from Specification.--The machine employed consists of a tank of special design that is mounted on wheels so as to be capable of being drawn about. This tank is provided with a cover to permit of its top being sealed when working, and it is adapted to be placed in such a position as to permit of the drainage from a cow yard or shed being led into it by gravitation. The manure to be distributed may, however, be placed in the tank in any other suitable manner.

Improvements in or relating to channel-guide mechanisms for shoe-sewing machines.*

Claims.--(1.) For an inseam shoe-sewing machine, the combination with a channel-guide and means for feeding the work, of means arranged to move the guide into contact with the work at or substantially at the end of each feed-movement of the work. (2.) For an inseam shoe-sewing machine, the combination with a channel-guide and means for feeding the work, of means for moving the channel-guide towards and from the work, arranged to move the guide toward the work along a line approaching the needle and inclined to the direction of feed. (3.) For an inseam shoe-sewing machine, the combination with a feed-slide, means for actuating the slide, a feed-point and a channel-guide mounted on the feed-slide, and means for moving the feed-point toward and from the work, of means for moving the channel-guide toward and from the work, arranged to move the guide toward the work during the feeding movement of the slide. (4.) For an inseam shoe-sewing machine, the combination with a needle, a feed-point, a channel-guide on the opposite side of the feed-point from the needle, and means for moving the point towards and from the work and laterally to feed the work, of means for moving the channel-guide to-
