Regulations for Deer-shooting, Whakatane and Wairoa.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”), I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in that part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District comprised in the County of Whakatane and that part of the County of Wairoa which is in the said acclimatization district, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.

REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags may be taken or killed within the above-mentioned part of the Rotorua Acclimatization District from the 13th day of April, 1911, to the 29th day of April, 1911 (both days inclusive).

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Government Tourist Agent at Wairoa, on payment of a license fee of £2, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations. The number of such licenses shall not exceed five: Provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than two stags, and no stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than ten points.

  4. No hind or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  5. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  6. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20.

Animals Protection Acts: Declaring Reserve for Native and Imported Game, Waikaremoana.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

PURSUANT to the powers conferred upon him by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand doth hereby notify that native game and imported game, except red deer, shall not be taken or killed within those portions of the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

WAIKAREMOANA.

ALL that area in the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts bounded towards the north-west generally by the summit of the range leading from Whakatakaa Trig. Station, at the head-waters of the Whakatane River, to Maungapohatu Trig. Station, near the head-waters of the Waikare Stream: thence towards the east generally by the summit of the range leading to Manuaha Trig. Station; thence by the main range leading east of Waikareiti round to Ngamoko Trig. Station; thence by the range from Ngamoko westerly to the spur leading to the Waikaretaheke Stream at a point about a mile and a half distant from where it flows out of Waikaremoana; thence by that spur to the Waikaretaheke Stream: and thence towards the south generally by the leading spur to the summit of the Panikiri Range; and thence by the summit of the Panikiri Range, over Puketapu Trig. Station, to the Ko-
tore-o-taunoa Range: and thence towards the west generally by the eastern watershed of the Mangainuiohou Stream, and the main range leading therefrom, to Whakatakaa Trig. Station aforesaid.

Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of Portion of a Reserve in the Town of Reefton, Nelson Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS by the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, it is, amongst other things, enacted that the Governor may declare his intention to change, exchange, or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or hereafter vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the purposes named in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said Act, whether the same be granted or not; and in the case of any reserve made under the authority of section three hundred and twenty-one of the Land Act, 1908, if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the purpose of such reserve or any part thereof from the purpose or presumed purpose for which it was set apart to any other purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one or more purposes named in the said Class II, the Governor may, by notice gazetted, make such change, exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby, in exercise and pursuance of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, aforesaid, declare my intention to change the specific purpose of the portion of the reserve described in the second column of the Schedule hereto from that named in the first column of the said Schedule to that named in the third column of the said Schedule.

All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 12 acres 3 roods 17 perches, more or less, being Section 1318, Town of Reefton. Bounded towards the north by William Street, 1100 links; towards the east by Donovan Street, 1168·7 links; towards the south by Shiel Street, 1100 links; and towards the west by Bridge Street, 1168·7 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5444/18, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. All that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by admeasurement 36 perches, more or less, being Section 1343, Town of Reefton, and being a block of land 150 links square. Bounded towards the south by Shiel Street, from a point in continuation of the west side of Ross Street; towards the west by Section 1342; and towards the north and east by Section 1318: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5444/15, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red. Site for a mechanics’ institute.

Set apart as a reserve for public utility in the Nelson Provincial Gazette No. 24, of the 5th day of August, 1875.
