New County of Malvern divided into Ridings, &c.

A PROCLAMATION.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the Counties Act, 1908, and the Selwyn County Subdivision Act, 1910, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby divide the new County of Malvern, as constituted by the said Acts, into four ridings, to be called the West Melton Riding, the Courtenay Riding, the Homebush Riding, and the Sheffield Riding, and declare that the boundaries thereof shall be those set forth in the Schedule hereto.

And I do hereby declare that one member shall be elected for the West Melton Riding, five members for the Courtenay Riding, one member for the Homebush Riding, and two members for the Sheffield Riding. And I do further declare that Tuesday, the fourth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, shall be the day upon which the election of the first Council of the said County of Malvern shall take place; and that Thursday, the sixth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at half past two o’clock in the afternoon, shall be the time, and the East Malvern Road Board Office, at Sheffield, shall be the place, at which the first meeting of the said Council shall be held.

SCHEDULE.

WEST MELTON RIDING.

ALL that area in the Malvern County bounded towards the north by a line along the middle of the Waimakariri River from a point in line with the eastern boundary of Rural Section No. 9616 to the north-western corner of Paparua County as described in the Second Schedule to the Selwyn County Subdivision Act, 1910; thence towards the east generally by the said Paparua County to Springs County, as described in the Fifth Schedule to the aforesaid Act, to a point on the Christchurch-Dunedin Railway line in line with the north-eastern side of Dunns Road; and thence towards the west generally by a right line to and by Dunns Road to the Great South Road; thence by the Great South Road to the junction of roads at the southern corner of Rural Section No. 31877; thence by the road forming the western boundaries of Rural Sections Nos. 31877, 32004, 31530, and 31462 to the Malvern Railway line; thence across the railway-line and by Sandy Knolls Road to Halkett’s Road; thence by the last-mentioned road to its junction with Station Road; thence by Station Road to the north-eastern corner of Rural Section No. 12536; thence by that section and Rural Section No. 9616, and the eastern boundary-line of the latter section produced to the middle of the Waimakariri River, the place of commencement.

COURTENAY RIDING.

All that area in the Malvern County bounded towards the north-east by a line along the middle of the Waimakariri River; towards the east generally by the West Melton Riding hereinbefore described from the middle of the Waimakariri River to the Christchurch-Dunedin Railway line; thence towards the south-east by the said railway-line to the middle of the River Selwyn; thence towards the south-west by a line along the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of the road forming the north-western boundary of Rural Section No. 24284 in Block IX, Hawkins Survey District; thence towards the
