Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twentieth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to section one hundred and thirty-five of the said Act, as they contain, or are supposed to contain, metal, mineral, or valuable stone.

Altitude, 200 ft. to 450 ft. above sea-level, Rather broken; well watered; soil mostly of a peaty nature; good brown loam in parts on Section 162; covered with inferior mixed bush, all timber of commercial value having been removed by sawmills. Sections 162, 163, 165, and 166 accessible by good formed road from Half-moon Bay, distant about two miles; Section 164 by bridle-track.

Altitude, from 300 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. Broken country, covered with mixed forest, comprising tawa, rata, rimu, miro, hinau, and rewarewa, with dense undergrowth of mahoe, punga, and supplejack. Soil of medium quality, brown papa rock on slate formation; well watered. Distant about five miles from Ngaruawahia Post-office and Railway-station—four miles being good metalled road, balance unformed.

Setting apart an Endowment for Primary Education in the Hawke’s Bay Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section five of the Gisborne High School Amendment Act, 1909, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby set apart as an endowment for primary education the land described in the Schedule hereto, in exchange for Allotment No. 184, Town of Gisborne.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area of land in the Hawke’s Bay Land District, containing by admeasurement 561 acres, more or less, being Section 4, Block VI, and Section 5, Block VII, Ngatapa Survey District.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

Changing the Purpose of a Reserve in the Suburbs of Kawakawa, Auckland Land District.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto was heretofore duly set apart for a site for a mechanics’ institute and athenæum, being a reserve within Class I of the Second Schedule of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and such land has not been vested in trust in any society, body corporate, or trustees:

And whereas it is expedient that such land shall be appropriated for a public recreation-ground, being a reserve within Class III of the aforesaid Act:

Now, therefore, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the eleventh section of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, do by this notification declare that the said land shall, from and after the ninth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eleven, be appropriated for a public recreation-ground under Class III of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908; and I do hereby direct that this notification shall be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods 27 perches, more or less, being Section No. 10, Suburbs of Kawakawa. Bounded towards the north by Section No. 14, towards the south-east and north-east by Section No. 11, again towards the south-east by Section No. 12, towards the south by Section No. 28, and towards the west by a public road; all of the Suburbs of Kawakawa: as the same is delineated on the plan marked L. 5394/1, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands, at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.

ISLINGTON, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries Act, 1908, I, John Poynder Dickson-Poynder, Baron Islington, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby appoint

GEORGE GILMORE DIACK and
GEORGE WILLIAMSON

to be Trustees, in the place of Robert Pearson and James Steven, to provide for the maintenance and care of the Waikouaiti Public Cemetery, in conjunction with William McDougall, George Maxwell, William Hallum, Magnus Jamieson, and James McGarry, previously appointed by His Excellency the Governor.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourth day of February, one thousand nine hundred and eleven.
