Run 500.—Similar to Run 499. The improvements consist of fencing on boundary with Run 425B, 52 chains, at 2s. 6d. per chain, £6 10s.; fencing on half boundary with Run 501, 98 chains, at 7s. per chain, £34 6s.; fencing on half boundary with Run 502, 49 chains, at 8s. per chain, £19 12s.; fencing along Section 1, not on boundary, 29 chains, at 3s. per chain, £4 7s.; fence along road, not on boundary, 132 chains, at 6s. per chain, £39 12s.: total, £104 7s.
Run 502.—Open, broken, pastoral land, with patches fit for cultivation; all fair winter country. Altitude, 1,200 ft. to 2,000 ft. Distant about nine miles from Roxburgh. The improvements consist of half fencing with Run 501, 50 chains, at 7s. 6d. per chain, £18 15s.; half fencing with Run 501, 36 chains, at 10s. per chain, £18; half fencing with Run 500, 49 chains, at 8s. per chain, £19 12s.; paddock fence (for removal), 41 chains, at 4s. 6d. per chain, £9 4s. 6d.: total, £65 11s. 6d.
Sections in Lower Wanaka, Lower Hawea, and Tarras Districts.—These two small grazing-runs comprise terrace land, generally light and shingly, with patches of good land. Situated at the junction of Clutha and Hawea Rivers, about four miles from Pembroke.

Worker’s Dwelling at Sydenham, Canterbury Land District, for Lease by Application.

NOTICE is hereby given that a worker’s dwelling of five rooms with conveniences, situated on Lot 13, Camelot Settlement, Longfellow Street, Sydenham, comprising an area of 35·7 perches, will be open for application on Thursday, the 26th day of January, 1911, under the provisions of the Workers’ Dwellings Act, 1908. The rental, at the rate of 5 per cent. on the capital value, is at the rate of £2 0s. 10d. per month, with a monthly addition to cover rates and insurance, the additional monthly payment in respect thereof for the first year being 6s. 8d., making a total monthly payment of £2 7s. 6d.
Applicants will be required to appear for examination at this office during ordinary office hours, or at 7.30 p.m., on Friday, 27th January, 1911, and the ballot will be held the same evening at the close of the examination. Possession will be given to the successful applicant a week later.

Pastoral Runs in Canterbury Land District open for License on Application.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned pastoral runs are open for license, and applications will be received at this office and at the local Lands Office, Timaru, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Thursday, the 23rd day of February, 1911, under the provisions of Part VI of the Land Act, 1908, and section 91 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1910.
SCHEDULE.
CANTERBURY LAND DISTRICT.
Class A.
Run 233, Glynn Wye No. 1, Amuri County: Area, 27,100 acres, of which it is estimated that 10,000 acres is bush or barren, and 17,100 acres in tussock and other native and English grasses; term of license, twenty-one years; rental, £390 per annum; approximate value of improvements, £780. About forty miles distant from Culverden Railway-station, of which thirty-five miles is a good cart-road.
Run 233A, Glynn Wye No. 2, Amuri County: Area, 108,300 acres, of which it is estimated that 75,000 acres is bush or barren, and 33,300 in tussock and other native and English grasses; term of license, twenty-one years; rental, £330 per annum; approximate value of improvements, £1,628. About forty-eight miles distant from Culverden Railway-station, of which thirty-five miles is a good cart-road.
Run 233B, Glynn Wye No. 3, Amuri County: Area, 55,100 acres, of which it is estimated that 31,000 acres is bush or barren, and 24,100 acres in tussock and other native and English grasses; term of license, twenty-one years; rental, £380 per annum; approximate value of improvements, £2,700. About forty-two miles distant from Culverden Railway-station, of which thirty-five miles is a good cart-road.
Possession will be given on the 1st March, 1912.
The areas and boundaries of the runs offered for disposal are approximate, and will be subject to such amendments as may be found necessary upon the completion of surveys.
The information given as to the valuation of improvements on the several runs is published for the information of intending applicants, but must be taken as approximate only, being based on information supplied by the present licensee. The final valuation will be made in accordance with section 244 of the Land Act, 1908, at least three months before the expiry of the present license.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS.
The licensee of any run upon which deer range shall, upon receipt of due notice in that behalf, allow any legal holder of a license to stalk deer within the district in which such run lies free and unrestricted rights of ingress, egress, and regress upon and over any portion of the run for the purpose of stalking deer.
The value of improvements on each run will be finally determined by valuation at least three months before the expiry of the present license, in accordance with the provisions of section 244 of the Land Act, 1908. The amount of such valuation shall be paid by the incoming tenant either by way of one cash payment to be made before he is admitted to possession of the run, or he may elect to pay for the same by half-yearly instalments of interest and sinking fund extending over a period of fourteen years, the first of such half-yearly instalments to be paid before he is admitted to possession of the run. Such half-yearly instalments will be at the rate of £5 1s. for every £100 of the amount of valuation placed on the improvements, and they will be payable by the licensee on the first days of March and September in every year with the rent of the run. The licensee may, however, at any time pay the whole or any less number of the then future instalments under a duly proportionate rebate of interest.
The licensee shall not, during the months of December, January, February, March, April, May, and June, or such other months not exceeding altogether seven in any one year as the Commissioner of Crown Lands shall from time to time determine, burn the grass on his run.
The licensee will be required to keep the rabbit-proof fences intersecting his run in good order and repair at his own expense.
